Three batters into the eighth, Twinkies blow two-run lead to Fryers, then make it even worse.
This game will come down to our offense.
Or Ferris's failure.
Sure looked like it.
Woo-HOO!!! But bad calls by NY.
Bad call at first base, but not sure about that one – did he get the hand down?
Yes.
Wah-Ooh!!
Get these two other outs.
Jason comes through!
Heyward does not want to be DFA'd.
What a roller coaster!
Doctor DP
Boo!
Got him!
Laughable but, in the end, it all worked out.
CB having a tough night behind the plate.
It's his SOP. That was strike three.
Once again, it's the Joe Kelly Experience.
Quite the throw there.
Mookie delivers!
Shoot! Out!
Ferris's outing wasn't quite so bad as his previous one.
Well, he kept us in the game at least.
It wasn't a total meltdown.
One more outing that probably will lead to a one year contract for 2025.
I have been wondering what Buehler will do in free agency. A one year deal seems like his best option. Will it be with the Dodgers? Dodgers have a lot of pitching coming back next year.
I'd say he's a long shot.
On a more positive note it could be said he is getting better.
A single, a double. a triple, two home runs and two walks = two runs.
Dodgers need a couple more solos.
Must have a shutdown inning now.
Twinkies have taken 5-3 lead over Fryers in eighth.
Lux and Smith passing each other on opposite moving escalators.
Like Harris and Trumpsky.
Max hammer!
Silver?
Max is back
You can’t stop Gavin, you can’t even hope to contain him!
Weird play.
Walker might actually give us the 3 runs over 5 innings, which has become the gold standard for our starters!
He won't reach the fifth.
Need some offense.
Machado homers to tie Twinkies at 3-3 in seventh.
Keep us in the game Walker.
Can't believe it's only the fourth.
A long way to go and we are still in it.
Especially after Muncy’s AB.
Teóscar's been slumping.
C'mon Freddie. Need a clutch hit here.
WHIP of 3.00 tonight and no Ks through 3.
Less than encouraging.
Pleased to see Sawx can Trashtros. Hopefully that'll be the M's high point of the evening. Kenley gets the save.
Ferris is cooked.
Should have stayed in school
Twinkies burning Fryers 3-1 after five.
Miller with a pretty high pitch count too.
I love the sound when Muncy makes hard contact.
But I also like it when he draws a walk.
Ferris's first was truly awful, and now he's in trouble again.
But he lucked out.
Or not
Pitcher’s best friend. Still, six of the last nine batters have reached base.
I'm usually willing to cut players some slack, but that's getting a lot harder with Ferris.
Crap!!
And after retiring the first two batters.
Left the pitch right down the middle.
C'mon Walker.
I have no illusions of Buehler ever being what he was a couple of years ago. I am hoping he can make some positive progress tonight. He doesn't have to be an ace to be effective. Nothing wrong with being a solid #3 or 4. He has the tools. I believe Kersh has accepted that and has reinvented himself.
The main reason for hope is that the M's offense is simply awful, so maybe Ferris can keep it close.
Yep. This is a perfect opportunity. M's offense is not very good.
The Last of His Kind is an excellent book on Klayton. Never had the overpowering fastball that Walker had. He really only took off when he developed the slider and was able to tunnel it with the 93-94mph fastball. I don’t believe that Klayton has resigned himself to being an effective 3-4 , even if that would still be good. He never wanted to throw a change, but maybe the new splitter will serve the purpose of keeping the opposition batters from keying on his 90-91 fastball.
Kershaw had the elite knee-bending curveball. I recall a Reds batter – pretty good hitter – who buckled immediately.
Sean Casey
That's right. Casey was stunned.
Public Enemy Number One, Vince called it. It was during a spring training game. More of a novelty pitch for him rarely used in critical situations during his heyday. Has developed a tighter one that he uses now.
Fish blowing multiple opportunities, trail Snakes 3-1 in 7h.

Today in Dodgers History
August 20th
1945 Dodger shortstop Tommy Brown becomes the youngest player (17 years, eight months, and 14 days) in major league history to hit a home run. The round-tripper by 'Buckshot,' who started his career as a 16-year-old high school student, will be the only run Brooklyn scores off 30-year-old Pirates southpaw Preacher Roe, who goes the distance in the 11-1 rout of the home team at Ebbets Field.
1974 In an 18-8 rout of the Cubs, the Dodgers collect 24 hits and set a club record with 48 total bases, including Davey Lopes' three home runs, double, and single. The Dodger second baseman's 15 total bases are the most ever for a leadoff hitter.
1978 In the visitors' clubhouse at Shea Stadium, Dodger Blue becomes black and blue when Steve Garvey confronts teammate Don Sutton about a Washington Post story in which the pitcher was critical of him. After the right-hander confirms he made the comments, the argument becomes physical when he makes an inappropriate remark about the first baseman's wife.
That was really dumb.
