  1. The Dodgers recalled RHP Bobby Miller, activated RHP Ryan Brasier and optioned pitchers Michael Grove and Justin Wrobleski.

  2. On the bright side, our hometown Atléticos have swatted Gnats, who've fallen back below .500.

  3. Not sure if Edman has played much third base but if so this would be a great defensive team:

    Smith
    Freeman
    Lux
    Edman
    Rojas
    Teoscar
    Kiermaier
    Betts

  4. Two more outs (fingers crossed) and he matches Wrobleski yesterday, which is not the worst result.

          • Yes to match Wrobleski’s outing. That he was credited with the win was because of his teammates scoring more runs than the other team.

          • I was wrongly thinking that even if the Dodgers went ahead in the top of the sixth he couldn't get the win. But, he would still be the pitcher of record until the bottom of the 6th.

  5. Meanwhile in Cincinnati, Dairon Blanco, batting ninth for Kansas City, entered tonight's game with one home run and five RBIs in 68 games and a .227 batting average. He hit a two-run homer in the second and a grand slam in the third and has seven RBIs thus far. The game is in the sixth inning. The Royals are leading, 13-0.

  6. Yeah, right. If he didn't have that stupid contract, he would have been gone long ago.

  8. Today in Dodgers History
    August 17th

1992 Kevin Gross, retiring 22 of the final 23 batters he faces on his wife's birthday, no-hits the Giants at Dodger Stadium, 2-0. The LA right-hander's no-no averts the team from being swept in a four-game series at home against the Giants for the first time in 69 years.

2013 Clayton Kershaw blanks the Phillies at Citizens Bank Park, 5-0, giving the Dodgers their first double-digit winning streak since 2006. In their last fifty games, the team's 42 victories, including a 25-3 mark since the All-Star break, equals the 1941 Yankees and 1942 Cardinals for the best record for that span of games since 1900.
