Roberts threw in the towel too early bringing back Ramirez for the 8th in a one run game.
The cupboard was bare. Guessing he wanted Kelly for the ninth.
It’s fun to watch the Giants’ outfielders.
The endless game.
Perfect description!
Last night's game was also agonizingly slow, but with better results.
Nice D by Ahmed!
Off night. I’ll take winning 5 out of 6 games each week though.
Yuck. Saw him slow down after rounding first.
What did it look like?
Upper Thigh/groin pull.
Joe says he was pointing to upper thigh.
Fryers burning Nats (gnot the Gnats) 12-3 in ninth, Snakes playing long ball in KC, but now losing 4-3 after four.
Giants (48-54)
Dodgers (61-41)

Miggy Rojas to IL. Nick Ahmed is his replacement.
And Glasnow gets the loss. Doesn't seem right.
He was the pitcher of record when the Giants got a lead they never relinquished.
Glasnow was not sharp.
In another universe or another era, we could be wondering who the Dodgers could get for Glasnow or Teo at the trade deadline. What combo of minor leaguers and young mlb players.
Ah well. Win it tomorrow with Kershaw please.
The curse of the bobble head.
Putrid effort.
Barnes and Joe DiMaggio. Both have/had a double digit game hitting streak. Practically exactly the same.
And Joe couldn’t play catcher.
Looking at Paxton’s ERA and his release, he was allowed to absorb 9 earned runs in 4 innings a few games ago. That saved the bullpen, but without that game, his ERA was well below 4. He became the fall guy.
Paxton acquited himself well for a #5 starter.
Still only gave us four innings in that game. In the end, just no room at the inn for him with Tyler, Klayton, Walker and Bobby all on the way back and the 4 rookies pitching better than him.
Well, that should get Glasnow off the hook for the loss. He wasn't great but does not deserve the loss.
He still gets the loss.
He still gets the loss.
Yikes. Still the 9th to go. I joined this game already in progress and it still feels long.
Very.
Too bad your Hollywood Bowl concert was not tonight.
Truth.
A free gift for Freddie!
Nice! A little gift.
I thought Ohtani was like a .800 hitter in the 8th inning. Ok maybe .450 or something, but still.
.422 in 8th, .300 in 9th.
Bob – I am honestly so grateful for your stats. Thank you.
Nick with his first Dodger hit. I’m sure that’s the most special, significant and memorable moment in his whole career. Lol
Remember, Kershaw tomorrow will make his first start in eons. They will need a well-rested bullpen.
Trung to get two innings out of Ramirez is a mistake.
Doc mailing it in.
Kelly was available for that second inning. Doc must have bought a sheet of stamps.
He’s pretty “heady” I think. Anxious over-thrower.
The game is going to be put away now.
Bullpen has been overworked.
Picking up a Giants castoff, Ahmed, to play short is embarrassing.
He's an excellent defensive SS. They'll be picking up some quality depth before the deadline.
We’ll see.
Better than Biggio.
True. But we now have them both.
They all start looking better at closing time.
Dodgers are carrying too much deadweight.
They've suffered an unprecedented number of key injuries.
They should bring up Lipcicus (spelling?) from AAA to play the infield.
I would like to see them do that.
He's no sure thing.
There are no sure things. He is worth a look.
Well never know if he’s never called up.
He's not on the 40-man roster.
Probably best to find guys like Ahmed when you are just tying to fill in for a couple weeks while a guy is on IL. You get logjams on the 40 man otherwise.
I’m bummed about CT3. He was hitting great lately.
Great for him, but really not very good.
Very good, actually.
He has one RBI in the last 7 games and an OPS of .584. That is not good.
It certainly isn’t. Taylor always seems to have an 0-2 count
Ruh roh part 2.
Oh no! CT3 pulled something looks like.
And he is not even a pitcher.
Rally Time!! Clap…Clap!!
Ruh roh Ramírez.
LOL. That should be his nickname.
Got out of it, though.
Always a tightrope.
Shohei striking out a lot lately.
Yep. In June struck out 26 times in 122 PA. Coming into tonight in July 26 times in 77 PA.
His timing looks off- also as if he’s not seeing the ball nearly as well.
Probably it for Glasnow. 91 pitches.
Ray has a no hitter going.
Smith and Hernandez might disagree
LOL
No, he doesn't.
Cost of pitching per run allowed keeps going down.
Tyler looks pretty good out there, maybe a little bit rusty and overthrowing.
Ideally, Robbie Ray will be even rustier. Has a history of control issues.
Ha! No kidding.
It's Night Four of Blackout Week.
Dodgers rookies since last Friday:
Gavin Stone: 5 IP, 1 ER, 0 BB
Justin Wrobleski: 4.1 IP, 0 ER, 5 K
River Ryan: 5.1 IP, 0 ER, 4 H
Landon Knack: 5 IP, 1 ER, 6 K
Our young pitchers have really made progress and stepped in nicely.
Today in Dodgers History
July 24th
1909 At Washington Park, the Superbas sweep a twin bill from the visiting Cardinals with identical 1-0 scores. Brooklyn's southpaw Nap Rucker whiffs 16 Redbirds in one of the contests en route to finishing second in the NL with 200 strikeouts.
1931 For the second time in ten days, Babe Herman hits for the cycle. The Dodger outfielder joins "Long John" Reilly and Bob Meusel as one of only three 'tricyclists' to have collected a single, double, triple, and home run in one game three times.
1965 Unbeknownst to him, Mets skipper Casey Stengel, who compiled a managerial record of 1,905-1,842 with the Dodgers, Braves, Yankees, and Mets, manages his final baseball game, a 5-1 loss to Philadelphia at Shea Stadium. After leaving a party after midnight at Toots Shor's, the 75-year-old 'Old Perfesser' loses his balance, fracturing his left hip, resulting in his unexpected retirement from the sport.
1968 Chicago reliever Hoyt Wilhelm breaks Cy Young's record when he makes his 907th career appearance, pitching a third of an inning in which he gives up a run on two hits to be on the short side of the team's 3-2 loss to Oakland. The 45-year-old knuckleballer, who will retire in 1972 after pitching in 1,070 games, will finish his 21-year major league career with a 143-122 (.540) won-loss record and 228 saves, hurling for the Giants, Cardinals, Indians, Orioles, White Sox, Angels, Braves, Cubs, and Dodgers.
1977 After Mets' right fielder Bruce Boisclair drops his two-out foul pop-up, Davey Lopes responds with a game-ending three-run home run off Bob Apodaca. The LA second baseman's ninth-inning dramatics provide the Dodgers with a 5-3 win, spoiling Nino Espinosa's opportunity for a complete-game victory needing just one more out before his departure.
1993 Following the game at Dodger Stadium, Vince Coleman tosses an M-80 from a car, resulting in reported injuries to three fans in the Chavez Ravine parking lot, including an 11-year-old boy and a two-year-old girl. The Mets' player was a passenger in the 1991 Jeep Cherokee driven by LA outfielder Eric Davis, acknowledging Coleman flipped the firecracker out of his vehicle as a 'joke,' but not into a crowd of people.
2020 For only the second time in baseball history, all four starting infielders are the sons of former major leaguers, when shortstop Bo Bichette (Dante), second baseman Cavan Biggio (Craig), first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (Vladimir), and third baseman Travis Shaw (Jeff) top the order for the Blue Jays on Opening Day. In 2012, the Dodgers' lineup featured an infield consisting of third baseman Ivan DeJesus Jr. (Ivan), second baseman Jerry Hairston Jr. (Jerry), shortstop Dee Gordon (Tom), and first baseman Scott Van Slyke (Andy), with outfielder Tony Gwynn Jr. (Tony) patrolling center field.

And more of an offence as well!
Kelly sucks. $9M wasted..
https://x.com/ericstephen/status/1816329933381329207
Very revealing table. Simply running out of arms.
Squeezed again! But got the K finally.
Plus, squeezed.
Kelly was not a wise signing by AF..
But but but – I just got his bobble head!
Sigh
Giants’ announcers are going bananas.
Well, they are homer hacks.
Yes.
It's looking as if Gnats may keep pace with Rox in race for fourth place.
Pinball baseball. Doc hasn’t learned about Ramirez despite the history.
With an overworked pen, he doesn't have a lot of options.
You have a habit of taking the opposite point of view almost regardless of what is posted.

A witness for the defense.

I doubt Ramírez will survive the trade deadline.
Oh man. This is no bueno.

Much like baseball, it’s pastime.
Miércoles, ¡en serio!
Randy Heliot delivers. https://www.sfgate.com/sports/article/WHERE-ARE-THEY-NOW-Randy-Elliott-Giants-2660151.php
Ahmed always seemed to up his game against us.
Snakes biting KC hard in ninth.
Once in high school, we got no-hit and won 4-0.
Meh.
Only one run, but nice pitch count.
