    • I remember that play. No question. Hrbek literally lifted Gant off the bag. I just looked it up. Drew Coble was the umpire. It was in the top of the third inning and the Twins were leading, 2-1. It was third out of the inning and Lonnie Smith was left stranded on third base. The Twins won the game, 3-2, and the series, 4-3. Here's more: https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=3500259623561523

  2. Wow. Nice game. Way to battle and hang in there boys. Awesome job by the bullpen.

    • Yes. I won't be surprised if he is traded. Or sent to OKC after the deadline. He is a mess.

  3. I attended a game a few in Detroit a few years ago when my daughter was living in Ann Arbor, but I'd have rather gone to Tiger Stadium.

    • Yeah, don’t agree with him. Runners pop off because they try to take advantage by sliding late. There should be consequences.

  4. Of course Vargas used to be our second baseman and CT3 our left fielder.

  5. Tarik almost always comes in under 95 pitches in his outings, so we may be rid of him after the 6th.

  6. I guess I’ll do my weights. Should get a good sweat going watching another Dodger game.

  7. After play on May 20 the Dodgers were 33-17 with an eight-game lead over the second-place Padres in the NL West. The Dodgers have gone 22-22 since then. They now have a seven-game lead over the second-place Padres.

  8. Today in Dodgers History
    July 12th

1949 The first All-Star Game featuring black players occurs at Brooklyn's Ebbets Field. Dodgers Roy Campanella, Jackie Robinson, and Don Newcombe represent the National League in an 11-7 loss to Indians outfielder Larry Doby and his AL teammates.

1966 The National League All-Stars edge the AL, 2-1, in a game played at the newly-built Busch Stadium when hometown favorite Tim McCarver scores the winning run on Dodger shortstop Maury Wills's tenth-inning walk-off single, with Giants hurler Gaylord Perry getting the victory by tossing a scoreless ninth and tenth inning. The 105-degree weather and the 113 degrees on the playing surface cause nearly 150 people to need treatment for heat exhaustion.

2016 Before the All-State Game at Petco Park, Major League Baseball announces that the leagues' batting championships will be named to honor two Hall of Famers known for their offensive prowess, Tony Gwynn (NL) and Rod Carew (AL). The late Padres' legend Gwynn, a career .338 hitter, shares the record with the Pirates' Honus Wagner with eight NL batting titles, and Carew, a lifetime .328 hitter, hit over .300 for 15 consecutive seasons (1969-83) while playing for the Twins and Angels.
