Missed last night's Dodger game, though I followed it on the phone at a neighborhood Solstice music festival we attended at that hour. Couldn't believe three HBPs in an inning.
Slightly disappointed in the Midnight Sun game, if only because the field was in shadow a bit before midnight, but it's a real community event here. A couple Goldpanners still managed to turn around fastballs for line-drive dingers even in the shadows.
Dave Winfield's ceremonial first pitch bounced about half way to the plate. I was mistaken that he's the only Fairbanks Hall of Famer – Tom Seaver also played here. Non-HOFer Rick Monday did as well.
Dodgers trying to create good association with the new City Collect uniforms with tonight’s performance. What is everyone’s thought about how they look?
When you already have baseball's best uniforms, why this crap?
They are OK. Much better than most I have seen.
I like them, too!
They should stick to their traditional uniforms. What they’re wearing tonight are similar to the old PCL L.A.Angels jerseys. I can still see Steve Bilko in one.

Umpired a tripleheader today. It was actually OK. The level was Pinto: 7– and 8-year-olds. The youngest ages I’ve ever umpired. The games are only 5 innings. However, at that age, they don’t need umpires, coaches or uniforms. They don’t need parents watching from stands or an electronic scoreboard. They should just go to a schoolyard or a park and play. That was how I learned. But times have changed. When we played, we’d choose up teams and two minutes after the games were over we didn’t care (or really remember) who had won or lost.
Ah yes. The old sandlot days. They were a lot of fun.
I was 8 in fourth grade. Fourth grade was the first year we could play softball. I remember the first recess starting the year in fourth grade. The teacher told us we could take bats and a ball to the backstop and she would join us in a minute and get us organized. When she got there we were playing workup. We raced to home plate and the first ones getting there called first up and were followed with second up, third up, catcher, pitcher, first base and on and on. We were playing almost as fast as we got to the field.
In sixth grade when scholl was out we raced to the softball field and did the same thing and then came back after we went home to start playing.
We listened to the World Series on the radio in school as well.
We has similar softball childhoods. Without all the accoutrements of today’s kids. And I don’t think that we were deprived.
Talk about good writing!
It looks like it is almost dark in LA. Still have a lot of sun here in WA.
We have more than four hours until sunset in Fairbanks.
Angels are totally rocking the production rate tonight. 2 runs on 2 hits. Dodgers only have 7 runs on 9 hits.
I wish we could bottle tonight’s game and open it up the last week of October. (Glasnow’s homer allowed not withstanding.)
Ouch.
Bottom of the order kicking butt tonight..
Absolutely.
Rojas gets a couple of hits and scores a run?! Dodgers basically have to win this game now!
A good game to be at.
Beautiful evening, great pitching, and loads of hits!
My son and grandson are at the game!
A good chance to see a Woohoo huh?
And there it is!
There have been times when the Dodgers struggled to score with the bases loaded and no outs so this innings feels extra good.
Hi all. Did my weights and made dinner whooping and hollering throughout. Good game, eh?
You paint a great picture of yourself in the kitchen with the Dodgers
You should try writing for a living
What's for dinner?
Shohei Ohtani has tied the Los Angeles Dodger record for most consecutive games with at least one run and one RBI – seven consecutive games.
Previously: Reggie Smith (1978)
Brooklyn record: Roy Campanella (9, 1955)
As a Brooklyn fan bach when, I don't like separating LA and Brooklyn records.
I think Ohtani has a chance for player of the week…
Freddie Freeman's 2,200th career hit is his 494th career double.
Hoping he gets to 3000 as a Dodger.
Me Too Dave!
Well he is signed thru 2027. He turns 35 in September. Gonna have to sign an extension to get it with the Dodgers. Probably will take at least 5 more years to get to 3,000.
That would be a lot of doubles
Bada Bing, Bada Boom.
Lux was the Bada Bing and Ohtani was the Bada Boom
Exactly.
Angels (30-45)
Dodgers (47-31)

Sounds like a fun evening/morning.
No game tomorrow.
