Dodgers at D-Backs, 3:40 PM, TV: SPNLA
RHP Bobby Miller (6-2, 4.28 ERA) goes for the Dodgers and RHP Merrill Kelly (9-5, 3.21 ERA) goes for the D-Backs.
- 1975 At Shea Stadium, Davey Lopes steals his 32nd consecutive base without being caught, breaking Max Carey’s 1922 record in the Dodgers’ 2-0 victory over New York. The Dodger second baseman’s mark will be broken by Vince Coleman in 1989.
- 1976 John Candelaria becomes the first Pirate since 1907 to throw a no-hitter in Pittsburgh. Nick Maddox threw the first and only Buc home no-hitter until the ‘Candyman’ beat the Dodgers at Three Rivers Stadium. (There was never a no-hitter pitched in the 61-year history of spacious Forbes Field.)
- 2001 Mike Hampton ties the National League record for pitchers with his seventh homer when he goes deep off Felix Heredia in the Rockies’ 14-5 victory over the Cubs at Wrigley Field. The Colorado southpaw equals the mark established by Dodger hurlers Don Drysdale (1958, 1965) and Don Newcombe (1955), and two shy of the major league standard set by Wes Ferrell, playing for the Indians in 1931.
- 2013 The Dodgers rally for four runs in the bottom of the ninth inning, overcoming a six-run, seventh-inning deficit, for their fifth walk-off victory of the season. The team’s 7-6 victory over Tampa Bay is their 11th consecutive win in a one-run games, a span in which they have defeated ten different clubs.

Time to bring up Busch and throw him in at DH.
I hope he gets a chance next year. Work him out in LF and 3B in the winter and Spring Training.
He’s not highly regarded at any defensive position.
That can change and why I would like them to get him some work at 3B and LF. Geez!!! Do you ever see anything in a positive light?
I’d love to see him be a success, but am merely relaying the information available.
Gurriel does not want to take a walk, but in the end he did.
Thank you, Link. I hope that you are feeling better and back home. The tragic fires on Maui and the Big Island are hard to wrap one’s mind around.
Parents took us to Lahaina when I was five on our little Tahiti ketch. Biggest memory was me tasting a coffee lifesaver. So sad.
Here’s hoping you’re discharged and home, Steve.

Padres lost. Dodgers gain a game on everyone in the division.
The Dodgers are winners of 8 of their last 10.
Good job boys!!
Here’s hoping for a strong and healthy start by CK against the Rockies.
Six-game lead. Six-game lead.
Yippee!
Padres losing 6-1. Bottom 8.
Woo-HOO!!!
Dodgers win!
Giants lost.
Gnats swatted. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/769ffbde98f75b08930822b6ac0d0c2df655f6923828a9d8f0166ce690945f13.png
Throw strikes young man.
Ok EP. Can’t give up 2 tonight.
Two days in a row? Uh-oh.
When do they move Outman up in the order?
This is a good question.
What a play by their pitcher!
Both San Fran and San Diego are down 4-1. Rockies lost 7-6 in extras.
Freddie is now 20-for-39 in August (.513). His 2-for-4 thus far tonight has actually dropped his average for the month.
Yup. He is such a slacker tonight.
Bench him.
On to the 9th.
Dodgers only have 2 off days this month – and 5 total til the end of the year. The pen needs the starters to go 6, 7+ innings most nights.
Kelly!
Kelly does give up his share of walks that’s for sure.
And balances things out with a k.
Almost 4 per 9 in his career.
David slays Goliath
Peralta says hello Arizona!
Yes! 2-0!
Peralta!
Frankly, I would have gone with Quique.
LOL. Hate to say it, but, I would have also.
Need to get on base David!
Yep!
Pick him up Willie!
You misspelled “Max.”
Mook got hosed on the called 3rd strike.
Let’s go! Now score some runs Dodgers!
Caleb took a bit of time to gather himself, so no triple play.
What a fun DP!
Helpful. Very helpful!
I hope that we the good Ferguson tonight for a change.
How’s that?
I couldn’t have asked for anything more. And on the first pitch. I expected that AZ would be bunting,
More Miller? I’m not sure about this. Be super happy to be proven wrong.
But I wasn’t. That just seemed a bridge too far.
I was thinking the same thing.
I wish CT3 were safe. but he was out by a mile.
Clearly out at second…
Trailing 1-0, Angles have scored four in the sixth and lead Gnats 4-1.
Mr. Miller!
A fine effort by the young man.
Miller’s ERA has slipped below 4.
Let’s get the kid some runs….
That was great pitching! Miller seems to be evolving and getting stronger as a pitcher.
Way to go Bobby!
We need some quality futuring here.
C’mon Bobby.
Why was Max positioned for a bunt on 0-2?
Dodgers are missing JD.
4:00 PM abdominal CT scan! Looking for kidney stones.
And! The hospital tv offerings include the Dodgers’ shannel!
All the best to you and your medical team there.
Too bad Stone is not pitching. LOL
Dude…

And closes it out with a K of Happ.
Still hospitalized. Sister brought lsptop. Still waiting to see whether blood cultures taken Monday show any growth of infection. If yes, hospital; if no, outpatient and go home.
How do you feel?
Take care.
How about those Cubs and Cody??
Been watching that game, and I notice that Jeff McNeil of the Mutts chokes up about six inches on his bat – something one rarely sees any more.
After he backed into the batting title last year by sitting out the last games.
As he’s hitting .253, it doesn’t appear to be helping much.
He is a Chicken Choker.
Thanks Link. Hope you are feeling better and everything is OK…
