Dodgers at Marlins, 4:10PM PT, TV: SPNLA
Paul Maholm (1-2, 4.74 ERA) goes for the Dodgers against the Marlins’ Jacob Turner (0-0, 7.50 ERA). Maholm pitched well last time out against the Rockies and is 6-6 with a 4.02 ERA against the Marlins in his career. This is Turner’s second start in MLB.
In other news, A.J. Ellis can’t run without pain yet, so his return is still a few weeks away. That partly explains why the Dodgers sent FedEx down to Albuquerque and brought Olivo up. They could have carried Fedorowicz and his .108 BA for another week, but since Ellis is going to be out longer than that they decided to bring up Olivo, who’d been tearing the cover off the ball with the Isotopes (OBP .438, SLG .661, OPS 1.099).
We won’t see old friend Rafael Furcal this trip. He’s back on rehab assignment with Double-A Jacksonville, and he was in the lineup there on Friday night. The hamstring which put him on the DL at the start of the season is fine, but he strained a groin muscle last weekend while rehabbing.
Lineup when available.

Crawford is in a 4-45 slump since Tax Day, which may explain why he’s not in left field against the right-handed Turner.
Just tuned in, wow, what a game. Gordon is our superstar right now
When it was 7-2, who’dve thunk the heroes would be Crawford and League?
Not me.
Uribe! Don’t let Kenley get up.
C’mon, Brandon, you’ve got the chance — no drama here. Please!
Based on their past performances, the biggest pleasant surprise of the year for me is a tie — Josh Becket and Dee Gordon.
League would have to get some votes as well. Haren had a very good second half with the Nats, after returning from injury, so not so surprised with his performance.
Wow.
5 hits for Gordito!
Double.
That’s awful nice.
THAT’s how to break out of a slump! (I hope it continues!)
CC!!!!!!
Fair is fair . . . let THEM pay for wildness — let’s go Blue!
C’mon, score and give League the “W.”
Great job, League!
(that sounds odd!)
C’mon, one more out . . . again . . .
If their defense and bullpen continue like this, they’re going to have to score A LOT, just to compensate for themselves.
I think SVS should join Kemp and Puig in the OF tomorrow.
But change my mind right here, Andre!
Never mind — I stand by my thought.
Can he pitch?
Probably “good enough” to be a “reliever.”
No lead is safe, another 9th inning run.
But it ain’t over — we need some runs — AND to stop them!
C’mon, one more — just to get out of this mess.
Horrid bullpen.
Bullpen roulette.
And it was supposed to be one of the strengths.
It’s up to the bullpen . . . and that’s scary.
Making the whole thing scarier is Fernandez going manana — this seems to be the one with the best chance to win. . . . But when they were down 2-0 vs. the Cards in the NLCS and facing Wainwright, things didn’t look good, but the Blue won. (And I was happy to be there cheering them on.)
Gah., Wilson.
The Dodgers are overdue for a laugher.
The ones that should be, are turned into nailbiters by the bullpen — ever since Australia.
Puig’s home run is worth a look. It went up and out over two walls in left-center.
Interesting decision when AJ does come back. I think both Olivo and Butera would have to go through Waivers, so who do you risk?
Olivo is 35, Butera is 30, Federowicz is 26. AJ is 33. I didn’t think much of the Butera pickup in the first place, but he is five years younger than Olivo at the most physically demanding position on the field.
Doesn’t matter so much if he is back up. Has some pop and nice throw the other night.
Starting to gear up for the annual arrival of the Bums to DC. Pulling out my Blue Demon mask for the Cinco de Mayo game. Actually have four extra tix first row right above the visitor’s pen for cheap, but don’t think that there are any other MD-VA-DC commenters around this blog.
I lived and went to high school in Annandale from 1962 – 1968, but haven’t been back since. Not because Annandale or DC did anything to me, but circumstances haven’t allowed it.
