The Yankees swept the Twins, so there’s only one undetermined outcome of an AL Division Series left: Astros at Rays, 4:07 PM PDT, TV: FS1
The Astros send RHP Justin Verlander out on short rest (three days) to face the Rays’ Diego Castillo. The teams have vastly different expectations of their starters: the Astros hope for five or six innings if not more from their horse, while the Rays used Castillo as that new-fangled thing “the opener” half-a-dozen times in the second half and probably don’t expect more than two innings from him today. Since they’re down in the series 2-1, it’s an “all hands on deck” game for them, whereas the Astros are playing with house money.

The shift works!
Yes! On to game 5!
When Gurriel hit the ball, I thought it was a two-run single.
Hold on, bullpen!
Especially now…
It’s a miracle. Sears fridge guy appointment was originally set for Oct 18, but got moved to today! New ice maker installed, hopefully leak gone.
Great news! When does that ever happen?
Rarely. After the first two $250 repair bills in the early 2000s We bought a protection agreement for the fridge/freezer, the dishwasher and the oven, and it’s been worth its weight in gold.
I wonder whether they ever run out of replacement parts in Hawai’i?
Are you kidding? I can’t count the number of times I’ve had to wait for a part (even for this fridge). Ten days or two weeks later it turns up on my front porch and I have to call Sears to say “part’s here, let’s schedule a time to install it.”
I was wondering about insularity – even in a large city like Honolulu, there can only be so much storage space and things have to be flown in. It’s not like LA or SF.
What a difference one win makes!
So the Astros are human? Who knew?
You misspelled “Minute Maids.”
You are nothing if not consistent, sir!
Did you call them the Enrons way back when?
Of course!
I hate to have to hope for the Devil Rays – it’s well past time to dump the mild card – but my loathing of the Minute Maids may be the difference-maker.
I don’t loathe them, but they scare me.
Either way, I want it to go five.
De acuerdo, and then for the ALCS to go seven, all of them extra-innings.
Amazing relays to get Altuve at the plate!

Started with a perfect bounce off of the wall.
Kiermaier played it perfectly, and made a great throw to Adames.
Good start for the Rays.
Yep. Keep it up, guys!
