Dodgers at Cubs, 11:20AM PT, TV: SPNLA, MLBN (out-of-market only), CSN-C
The Dodgers ask LHP Hyun-Jin Ryu (0-1, 3.86 ERA) to defeat old friend and fellow LHP Brett Anderson (0-0, 1,89 ERA). Ryu went 4 2/3 innings last Friday and gave up two runs on six hits while keeping his velocity above 91mph.
This will be Anderson’s first start at home for the Cubs and his first start against his former teammates as well. He went 11-11 with a 4.18 ERA in 35 games (34 starts) with the Dodgers in 2015-2016 but pitched in only four games last year after shutting down due to disk surgery in his back in March. He came back in August but struggled. The Dodgers didn’t offer him a new contract over the winter and he signed with the Cubs in January of this year.
Lineup when available.

Bah. 2-4 road trip.
Silver lining? We learned that Mac and Ryu can indeed pitch, and that we can hit (well, at least righties)
Definitely the season’s most forgettable game so far.
Out with a whimper.
Indeed. Looking forward to matching up with west division teams at home. Should kick start some winning. I hope anyways!
Wouldn’t it be grand if Hatcher was good again? That would be a pleasant surprise.
Just not feeling like the Dodgers day today. I really thought they would tee off a bit against Anderson to be honest. And now they are struggling to do much of anything good at bat.
Ah well, tomorrow should be a fun one – Kershaw vs Greinke.
Got to bag it. You are in charge of the comeback today. Good luck.
I reserve the right to save up comeback awesomeness for future dates.
If my granddaughter doesn’t decide to arrive tomorrow evening, I will be there!
So – you win either way!
So true.
Puig checking out the new pen at Wrigley.
Oh boy. This one looks to be getting away from Ryu and the Dodgers – one run at a time. Like sands through the hour glass…
Sounds like a soap opera.
Yeah – it kinda does, doesn’t it? 🙂
Ugh!
Phooey.
Gotta do better with RISP, guys.
Granted, though hard to hit the ball better than Corey did.
And yet somehow the Cubbies are managing it.
They are only 3-22 RISP themselves this series. 1-16 coming into this game.
Thanks. That helps.
Wish it helped! It only gives some perspective
They don’t have to hit against Anderson though.
It’s up to Trayce.
Hit the wall!
Schwarber tried to fake it.
Tried to catch it as well.
It’s good to be in the league where the pitcher “hits” sometimes.
DP please.
Ryu’s getting squozen a bit.
Surprised, somewhat, that Klayton hasn’t already flown to LA since he starts tomorrow.
Grandal with a great throw!
Good thing, too, considering the Rizzo HR which followed.
Saved a run.
Play ball!
