Dodgers at Rockies, 5:10PM PT, TV: SPNLA
Brett Anderson tries to get past his worst start of the year. He gave up five runs including two home runs in 4 2/3 innings against the D-Backs on September 21. He’ll face right-hander Kyle Kendrick, who had a bad outing himself his last time out on Sunday against the Padres, giving up six runs in four innings. Anderson’s looking for win number ten to go above .500 for the season; Kendrick is looking for win number seven against thirteen losses.
Lineup when available.

NPUT @ 11:00AM PT.
Clinch tomorrow or perhaps now in SF instead.
With Vin announcing and not Charlie and friends.
I get blacked out of Vin from Monday.
After all the talk from Orel and Nomar about outfield positioning for CarGo, Joc was actually in the exactly right spot. But he still couldn’t quite get it.
Ack! Just checked in from a writer’s event! Oh, Dodgers. Why?????
Lovely way to lose.
Do I detect sarcasm?
Perish the thought! Although right at the moment the Dodgers lost the final gun sounded on the Wisconsin – Hawai’i game, which UH lost 28-0, and UCLA defeated Arizona 56-30, so I was 0-3 on the day and I am NOT a happy camper.
2/3/4 hitters coming up for Colorado. Proceed with caution Dodgers.
When did the pen last let in a run?
Thanks for asking Bob. (Teasing.)
It’s the SI cover curse.
Way to go, Baez and Avilan and Garcia!
Yimi is stepping up.
The Pederson catch is on Gameday video but I can’t link to it.
Seager is not yet Rollins’s equal at SS.
Do you mean in terms of defense?
I think that’s pretty obvious.
Mike Trout catch just now. Center fielders showing off: https://vine.co/v/expHwMri2IO
Joc can run! Range-y!
And catch the ball.
Dodgers bats are waking up but can we cobble together enough pitching? This comment works for both tonight and for the potential playoff run.
Don’t overstate any offensive renaissance after one-plus games in Denver.
Hmmm I guess understating the pitching could be an issue as well due to Coors Field.
Báez throwing 100-mph gas.
So replace him with Avilan.
Next two hitters lefties.
Crawford looked bad there, but it made no difference in the play.
Now we’re back to missed opportunities again.
Should Grandal, who is now 4-for-67, be replaced by Ellis as the regular catcher? Or would that upset the dynamics of the team?
Grandal is a better player, in the long run, but A.J. has earned more playing time. Grandal may not be 100 percent until next year.
The club has been waiting for weeks for Grandal to show even some minor consistency at the plate. Ellis has been hitting pretty well lately.
I don’t think our opinions are incompatible.
Three runs, then three outs in a row. This offense!
I am very glad to be wrong about this game’s likely result.
It’s no sure thing yet. Colorado is unpredictable, which is one thing I like about it.
No, but at least now it’s back to winnable from the bleak outlook it had.
Go-ahead run now at second with nobody out.
Tying run now at second with nobody out.
Well, maybe…
Tying run now at the plate.
I am simply not a Carl Crawford fan.
He has some limited value, but you don’t want him as an everyday player. His defense has really deteriorated.
As a fourth or, preferably, a fifth outfielder, OK. But his overall game is often a liability.
Given the injuries, he’s been very welcome as depth.
We have a Lipitor sighting.
An inning with no Colorado runs! A victory!
He said bitterly.
Yesterday, the first time I checked the score it was 7-1 in the 4th or 5th. Today, when I looked in it was 6-2 in the 3rd. Maybe I will take a pass tomorrow.
We have two A-plus starting pitches. After that, who knows? A good outing by Wood tomorrow would be a big psychological lift, at least for me.
Don, he’s given up 10 hits on 45 pitches. Get him out of there.
The bullpen’s been overworked recently. Anderson may have to take one for the team. It didn’t help that Crawford butchered that ball in LF.
They haven’t won the division yet.
No, but you can through pitchers in no time in Denver.
Well, if the Dodgers had an equal number of hits I wouldn’t be so annoyed, but how far can you get behind before it’s too late?
To be fair, several of their hits were infield dribblers.
Need baserunners, not outs, guys.
Maybe this game’s not over yet.
It’s Coors.
Some people really hate Coors, but I like it because it’s not a cookie-cutter ballpark.
In the early going, this is not the game I wanted to watch.
Have to remind myself that it’s Coors.
And now to be Steinered…
Well, I’m glad I took a nap instead of paying attention to the A’s on Gameday.
Must read article: http://www.theatlantic.com/entertainment/archive/2015/09/baseball-players-dont-always-make-good-managers/405913/?utm_source=SFTwitter Questions advisability of hiring former players as managers. Also mentions possibility of a team having, sort of, two managers; One in charge of clubhouse, other in charge of on-field tactics. Sort of like in football, Head Coach and Defensive and Offensive Coordinators. I expect some team will try that soon.
We’ve already seen how successful that might be: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/College_of_Coaches
I want the Dodgers to clinch in Denver, because I’ll be blacked out of all the games at TPTBNL.
The opposite for me…
Sigh…
Go, A’s! Don’t let ’em get a foot back in the door. (8-5, top of the sixth.)
I’m gonna take a nap until the real game starts.
Good idea. A’s are imploding.
Gameday link Giants – As
AGon is benched with back problems, so we have lineup changes: https://twitter.com/Dodgers/status/647886872262258688
Again, let the complaints commence.
I’m glad they’re giving AGon’s back a chance to heal.
Wrapping up the division this early, they can afford to do so.
The video of Gnat Parker falling down in LF is hilarious.
Brisbee on the Zito-Hudson matchup.
I’m blacked out of today’s Gnatgame, but am watching the highlights on Gameday video.
Make that 8-4.
A’s up 7-4 in the bottom of the third. They were down 4-0, but Hudson fell apart in the second, and Vogelsong not doing much better. But the game is still young…
Make that 8-4.
Or, what you said!
After Zito surrenders four to Gnats, Hudson and Vogelscheiße more than return the favor. A’s now lead 7-4 in third.
Or, what you said!
Did you see Grant’s latest McCovey post? Very pertinent.
We now have a lineup: https://twitter.com/truebluela/status/647872268127760385
Let the complaints start.
When will Jon give us his predictions for 2015: https://twitter.com/DodgerInsider/status/647817131657039873
From right, LaSorda, Sax, Stubbs, Gibson, Marshall, Shelby, Scioscia, Hamilton, Griffin. If that’s the starting lineup in Game One of the World Series, those are the guys. Belcher started on the mound and lasted just two innings.
Best team in baseball that year.
A light moment amidst yesterday’s disappointment: Jimmy Rollins having fun staring down Joe West after Bumgarner did the night before.
Whither Hanley? For those of you still in a nostalgic mood: http://www.sportsonearth.com/article/151603980/hanley-ramirez-red-sox-trade-partners-angels
Maybe it should be Wither, Hanley?
