Diamondbacks at Dodgers, 6:10PM PT, TV: SPNLA
Note the start time is an hour earlier than usual.
Scott Baker makes his second start for the Dodgers and Jeremy Hellickson makes his fifth start for the D-Backs. Hellickson is 1-3 this year with a 5.24 ERA. He’s got a 2-to-1 strikeout to walk ratio, which sounds good till you look and see that he’s got 16 of the former but 8 of the latter. Add the walks to 31 hits in 22 innings and you see why he’s had trouble winning so far. Baker did well in his first start, going 7 innings while giving up 4 hits and 3 earned runs. Unfortunately the Dodgers got only one run to support him and he lost the game.
Lineup when available.

Is there a rule that baseball fans don’t get up and active till 6PM? Guess I’m not a real fan…
I’m usually awake around 6 a.m., but I stay in bed reading for an hour or so, which is the dog’s breakfast time.
I consider myself lucky to sleep till 6 AM. A lifetime of getting up early is a habit hard to break. Quite often I don’t sleep well and wake up at 2 or 3 o’clock in the morning. On a good day I’ll sleep til 6AM. The other end of that is I fold up and go to bed pretty early, 7 or 8 o’clock. That’s one reason this Dodger blackout doesn’t really hurt me much. I do miss those games from the east or midwest that are televised about my dinner time. And, of course, the Sunday games. Reminds me of that Mel Brooks Film,” Life Sucks.”
I spend a lot of time in Argentina where, if you show up for a restaurant dinner before 9 p.m., they’ll give you a “What planet did you come from?” look.
Here’s a link to video of the Giants’ runner’s interference play and below it the Dodgers’ play.
I saw a game end like that at Dodger Stadium back in 1987 or 1988. Hershiser was pitching and Glenn Hubbard of the Braves was on first base with two outs. The batter hit a line drive which hit Hubbard hard and he went down in a heap. It took a few seconds to realize that was the end of the game.
By golly, I found the game at Retrosheet! It was June 25, 1987, and the Dodgers won 2-1. It’s a good thing the ball hit Hubbard or PR Trench Davis would have scored the tying run from third.
The Angles would have tied the score v. the Gnats yesterday, but the Dbags would only have put the tying run on base.
100. woo-hoo 🙂
Ha! Once again, even though it was artificially inflated this time. 😉

Who’dve thought with Kersh sporting a losing record, the team would be this good?
I wouldn’t have expected them to be 15-8 with Kersh at 1-2.
The Dodgers were 18-13 last year on May 3 and Kershaw had only one win at that point. Didn’t get his second win until May 6, when he came off the DL.
Okay, all. Heading upstairs to make sure the twin granddaughters are asleep. See you tomorrow!
Crazy but we win!
Wow! Weird way to win, but a win. Woo-HOO!!!
Wow — just like how the Angels lost!
Love how Pederson reads balls in center field.
Mo & Charlie were saying the same thing.
Man – this Dodger team at home is incredible so far.
I like this team a lot more then I thought I would.
Helps that they win more than they lose! 🙂
Insurance run is great to have.
DBacks have a 2014 Dodgeresque bullpen tonight.
Glad to shake the problem!
The “caught stealing” looked bad, but these Dodgers keep coming!
Yes!!!
Grandal has found his stride tonight. Too bad they had Dre steal.
Ethier stealing?!?
Wow. Seems like I missed a real back and forth game. Glad to see the Dodgers take the lead late.
Kept him in the park.
thankfully!

2 with two out!
JT, double!
Joc is just showing off at this point.
Back to even. One more for Package, please!
Joc!!!!
Joc-ularity!
Grandbabies here! This is my first chance to check in. Twin 6-year-old girls, 2 1/3 year old and 14 month old boys. So much fun, but man I’m bushed! Time for us to score.
FYI, Clippers beat Spurs 111-109 in Game 7.
I was not expecting that.
Mr Baker, he no good today.
Shaky, but Hellickson little better.
Maybe not all that good any day.
His last start was OK, but he doesn’t inspire much confidence.
Baker not fooling anybody.
Maybe Hellickson won’t fool any Dodgers.
I might be right.
Well, he hasn’t fooled Turner or AGon.

Tks. Posted above.
Speculation that Milwaukee is having a garage sale. Anybody there we could use? How about the shortstop, Segura? Slide Seager into third next year. I forgot, we already have a waiting list of third basemen. Unusual position for the Dodgers to be in, traditionally we have third base problems…
Maybe it’s time to take the pressure off Grandal and hit him eighth for awhile. I’m sure the FO is just as anxious as we are to get him going. They gave up a lot in Matt Kemp to get him and I’m equally sure they realize his defensive ceiling is “adequate”.
