The Dodgers announced Tuesday that Ryan (elbow) will require Tommy John surgery, Juan Toribio of http://MLB.com reports.
“The 25-year-old suffered a torn UCL in his forearm during Saturday’s start against the Pirates and will miss the rest of the season, and likely all of 2025. Ryan received his first taste of the majors this summer and was 1-0 with a 1.33 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 18:9 K:BB across 4 starts and 20.1 innings.
It’s unclear when exactly he’ll undergo the procedure, but he likely won’t be back to full strength until spring training in 2026”.
Hopefully, because he was hurt while in the MLB, he will receive his full MLB salary through 2025.
I read somewhere today that he will be on the MLB IL and receive his MLB salary and service time.
I was somewhat older than Ryan before my paychecks totaled a million dollars.
As a rookie, he earns a paltry $740,000.
So about a third of that for 2024 and all of it for 2025.
What a difference a Mook makes…
Yay!!! Outstanding all around effort.
Woo-HOO!!!
It's looking like a four-inning save.
Somehow, with Mookie in the lineup, these games are more relaxing.
Looks like that is it for Stone tonight. Heck of job. Even the pitch Contreras hit was not a bad pitch.
Surprised he only went five, with modest pitch count.
Noticing the good seats behind home plate look narrow. very little elbow room.
Smith showing signs of busting out of his slump.
Smith and Lux, Brewer Bruisers.
Sure would be sweet to get 6 innings from Stoney tonight.
On the post!
Stamped and Postmarked
Ball carrying well tonight.
Ack! I jinxed him!
Bad futuring, but subsequent events exonerate you.
So far, so good.
Stone doing well.
Sh-boom!
Stoner worked out of it well.
James Paxton has a torn calf muscle, so Dodgers dumped him just in time.

1910 In a game that features each team having 38 at-bats, 13 hits, 12 assists, two errors, five strikeouts, three walks, one hit batsman, and one passed ball, the Pirates and the Superbas (later to be known as the Dodgers) play to what else – an 8-8 tie. https://res.cloudinary.com/npc/image/upload/v1723557006/0813_1910_linescore_kl553z.png
1951 Any fan who shows up with a musical instrument during the Dodgers' Musical Depreciation Night is admitted free to the Ebbets Field contest against Boston. With an assortment of trumpets, trombones, zithers, tubas, accordions, bugles, flutes, various types of drums, violins, mandolins, assorted horns, a glockenspiel, a washboard, and a piano, 2,426 fans, which is about ten percent of the entire crowd, take advantage of the team's unusual promotion. http://www.nationalpastime.com/images/MDN.jpg
1982 At Chavez Ravine, Dodger second baseman Steve Sax steals his 41st base to set a franchise record for rookies when he swipes second base in LA's 6-1 victory over San Francisco. The eventual National League Rookie of the Year, the fourth consecutive Dodger to win the award, will extend the record to 49.
2006 LA's Greg Maddux and SF's Jason Schmidt hook up in a classic West Coast pitcher's duel, reminiscent of match-ups of Koufax and Marichal, as the Dodgers beat the Giants, 1-0, thanks to Russell Martin's 10th inning walk-off home run. When Giants slugger Barry Bonds lines into a double play in the first inning, it marks the only time in baseball history that a 300-game winner pitches to a batter with over 700 homers.
2007 Tom Hallion ejects Dodger Nomar Garciaparra, marking the first time in 1,303 games the easy-going infielder gets tossed. The 12-year veteran infielder gets booted for arguing a called third strike in the fourth inning, with teammates restraining him when he continues to shout and point his bat toward the home plate umpire.

It's distressing that the regular season is already three-quarters gone.
