  1. I'm cautiously optimistic about CT3's resurrection – he seems to be going the other way, when appropriate, rather than trying to pull everything. Yesterday's off-field RBI single and today's double (which could've been a triple under other circumstances) were especially encouraging.

  2. See you all again in a couple of weeks. I’m off to the land of sleeping in a cabin, nightly campfires and many, many mosquitoes.

  3. Paxton has been mostly solid, once or twice spectacular and other times sucky.

However, even before the season started, I had wished that the Dodgers had gotten Chris Sale instead of Paxton – which is easy to dream about these days, considering how well Sale has done with Atlanta.

  4. No 8 run inning to be had.

Dodgers 16-10 in June. But probably should have been 18-8 or better, considering their run differential.

  5. Admittedly, I would be a tad more excited about a full on comeback if Teo and Freddie were still in the game.

  6. While we have the first of hopefully several pitching changes this inning, I will say that I’m off to work at a summer camp for 2 weeks starting tomorrow.

  7. May as well get a few last licks here just for kicks. Can’t run out the clock in baseball.

  8. Giants must be relieved they have an 8 run lead again rather than just 7.

  9. I arrive late for another game. This one is more problematic than yesterday’s game (although it is a problem that Glasnow only went 3 yesterday).

CT3 doing some work to make sure it’s not a shutout anyways.

  10. Paxton probably won’t make the fifth (if only for pitch count) and the pen is bare.

  11. Blackout day is back, so I'll probably have questions.

Meanwhile, Sawx have just unplugged the Fryers at Fenway, with Kenley getting the save.

  12. Dodgers (52-32)
    Giants (40-44)

    SP James Paxton L
    7-1 3.39 ERA
    vs
    SP Spencer Bivens R
    1-1 3.00 ERA

    Lineup:
    DH S. Ohtani L
    LF T. Hernandez R
    1B F. Freeman L
    CF Andy Pages R
    RF J. Heyward L
    2B Gavin Lux L
    3B Chris Taylor R
    SS E. Hernandez R
    C A. Barnes R

Paxton is gonna have to weave a gem to win with this lineup.

  13. Overlooked in last night's results – Gnats have reclaimed sole possession of fourth place.

  14. Smoltz may be irritating, but he's not always wrong: "In the top of the fifth inning, Smoltz innocuously asked Davis if he knew why Oracle Park is considered the coldest ballpark in all of baseball. When Davis didn’t know, Smoltz replied: “Because it’s filled with Giant fans.”
