  1. Maybe the Dodgers new found hitting shoes don’t work smoothly on the fielding side yet.

  2. Padres lost to the Diamondbacks. Giants were idle. Rockies beat the Cardinals. Dodgers now lead the Padres by 8, the Giants and Diamondbacks by 8 1/2, and the Rockies by 16.

  3. Vesia gets it done brilliantly, but it is no fun to to sweat out a "laugher."

    • Does he need glasses, 15 days on the IL, two weeks in Glendale, retirement?

      • He should volunteer to go to OKC and work on his problems. He is a wasted roster spot. Team player my ….

          • If he won't go voluntarily to OKC, I would DFA him. The money is already a sunk cost. Not helping the team and taking up a roster spot that we could use to look at some of our prospects.

          • Whether he is on the roster or DFA'd, it is dead money. There is no good reason to believe he is going to get much better. He has not been good for 2 years. At least if he is gone it opens a roster spot.

          • The $13 million he is receiving this year probably helps his mental attitude.

  4. So who closes now? We've already used Grove, Treinen, Hudson and Phillips? Will be it be Vesia? Banda? Doc may have backed us into a corner.

    • Who is The Hornet? (As it relates to tonight’s Dodgers game that is.)

        • Thanks. Now I recall. You guys were taking about that a few nights ago.

          • The 1950 Hudson Hornet that my parents bought in 1955 did not have a classic windshield. The windshield was divided in half by a narrow strip that was part the body of the car.

  5. The way Rojas is hitting, I would move Mookie back to 2B and play Rojo at SS. It worked last year.

    • Agreed. Redux: I love Mookie, but we can't afford to play him at shortstop.

  6. Mookie is certainly a key player in tonight’s game – mostly good, but some glaring bad as well.

  7. I wonder how many games it has been since everyone in the starting 9 had at least one hit in the game?

  8. Gotta take a call in ten minutes. But I like the direction we are taking. Here’s hoping we can keep it going!

    • I guess if he stays at third he might not have been able to get to the bag in time as the ground ball was right at the bag and if he runs, he would have been safe if the ball bounced into left field or out at home if it didn't.

  9. I've been watching a recorded game and have just caught up. It was fun looking at the first inning comments and then see how how the comments progressed.

Hopefully the game ends as it started.

  10. Well, bullpen is going to be stretched going into NY. Better win this one.

  11. Not that tonight is fully or even mostly on Buehler, but I hope Kershaw’s comeback goes smoother than Buehler’s has this far.

  12. Welp, that happened, but it should only be 4-2. That’s on the team behind him.

  13. I think Freddie is going to pass Mookie in OPS soon. Mookie’s currently at .906 and Freddie’s at .890

    • They have scored 10 runs in the last 8 innings. Hope the bats that have awoken, stay that way going into Yankee-land.

  14. Don’t say it. Don’t say it.

This Pirate pitcher is really Faltering.

  15. Now that’s what I call getting a game off to a grand start. Let’s keep it going.

  16. No Will Smith. I don't get it. If you are going to give Will a day off, let it be against a righty pitcher. I am not convinced that he needs this much rest this early in the season. Perhaps in August and September, but not now.
How many runners will Teo leave on today?

    • I also am wondering why Will is getting a day off. Perhaps Doc wants him to have some rest and then start all three at Yankee Stadium as the Sunday game is at night, not during the day, so Barnes is, thankfully, unlikely to get a start there. Teoscar in the cleanup spot is disappointing. I'd put Pages there.

      • Good points Scoop.

Teo has to up his game. Especially with Muncy out.
