  1. Dunno if I'll see much of today's game – we're scheduled for a walking tour of Juneau in the rain – but Snakes have taken an early 1-0 lead over the Gnats. I rarely watch SF because games are blacked out in the Bay Area.

Skenes sounds like a truly serious prospect, but rooks have their ups and downs.

  2. Who here knows who the MLB leader in men LOB is? It’s none other than Teoscar Hernandez, who has left 136 men on base. Second is Manny Machado with 119. Freeman is 9th with 110, Ohtani is 21st with 104.

    Dodgers (38-24)
    Pirates (28-32)

    SP James Paxton L
    5-0 3.29 ERA
    SP Paul Skenes R
    2-0 2.45 ERA

    Lineup:
    SS Mookie Betts R
    DH S. Ohtani L
    1B F. Freeman L
    C Will Smith R
    LF T. Hernandez R
    RF J. Heyward L
    2B Gavin Lux L
    CF Andy Pages R
    3B Chris Taylor R

  3. Padres lost again to Angels. Giants beat DBacks. Dodgers lead Padres by 7, Giants by 8, DBacks by 8 1/2 and Rockies by 16.

  4. Dodgers going to end the night out hitting the Pirates and scoring in more innings.

  5. I recall reading in one of Bill James’ books that about 50% of the time in baseball, the winning team scores more in one inning than the losing team scores for the whole game. Looks like tonight could be one of those games.

  6. Saw Chapman throw against the Australians in 2009 WBC. Throws harder now than when he was 21.

  7. I suspect that Teóscar's numbers – which ain't bad – would be significantly better with Muncy in the lineup,

    • Padding his lead for runners left on base. 4 more so far tonight. Has 1 RBI in the last 15 games.

  8. Was on the verge of driving up to Pittsburg for this series, but had to stick around town. Will see Nats/Braves tomorrow night.

  9. Can the Dodgers hit a 3 run home run off of Chapman tonight please?

    • Yasmani averaged WAR 3.0 in his last three seasons with us. Not bad at all for a catcher. Willie has been averaging 4.0 the past three years.

  10. What a terrible called third strike on Betts. A walk could have set up a big inning.

  11. That sac bunt didn’t really hurt the Pirates in the middle of that inning.

      • I would have left Paxton in for a couple of more innings. Once they scored 5, it was practically over.

    • Speaking of serving things up (RBI) and eating – this is a perfect time to go eat dinner with the fam.

  12. I go to prep dinner it is 0-0. Now like 45 seconds later it is 5-0.
    whoops 6-0

  13. Paxton doesn’t have anything this inning. Serving them up to Pittsburgh hitters.

  14. Hey folks, Linky's sister here, I'm posting up multiple games so you all can continue on enjoying the games and each other's company. I'll work on a more permanent solution but for now enjoy the summer, baseball and everything else life has to offer.

      • Lynn: Thank you. Is there someplace that Link would have liked us to send contributions in his memory?

        • Not as of yet, this last month was just a blur. But I'm sure it will be something related to literacy programs. His love for books, was out of this world. His personal library would astound any average reader. Steve was one of the smartest people I have ever known.
