Dodgers at Cubs, 11:20 AM PDT, TV: Marquee Sports Network, SPNLA
LHP Clayton Kershaw (3-1, 2.52 ERA) pitches for the Dodgers while RHP Marcus Stroman (2-1, 0.75 ERA) does the same for the Baby Bruins.
James Outman is having a first month to the season unlike any Dodger rookie ever. Max Muncy is having a first month unlike few Dodgers ever. Each hit a pair of homers in the #Dodgers' 9-4 win.

- 1958 In a 7-6 loss to Chicago at the LA Coliseum, two Dodger mainstays from Brooklyn reach career milestones. First baseman Gil Hodges, who will finish his 18-year major league tenure with 370 home runs on his way to the Hall of Fame, hits his 300th career round-tripper, and Captain Pee Wee Reese, a future Hall of Fame shortstop himself, plays in his 2000th game.
- 1999 Fernando Tatis Sr. becomes the only player in baseball history to hit two grand slams in one inning when he collects eight RBIs in one frame to breaks the old record of six. The Cardinal third baseman hits both off Dodger starter Chan Ho Park in an 11-run third of the team’s 12-5 victory at Chavez Ravine.
- 2000 The Dodgers complete a sweep of the Reds to notch their 1,000th win over baseball’s oldest professional franchise. Since 1970, Los Angeles is the only National League franchise to play over .500 ball (120-115) in Cincinnati (Riverfront Stadium/Cinergy Field).
Lineups when available.
NPUT
Dodgers are 12-11, in first place. Red Sawx are 12-11, in last place.
Weird.
It’s funny how nice winning 3 out of 4 feels this year. Last few years – that was seemingly the base line for the Dodgers.
The Gnats’ rookie catcher Sabol has FOUR interference errors so far this season.
Wow! That’s a lot.
Alert Bob Timmermann!
Kershaw’s up-to-the-moment career WHIP:
.99961715
1977 hits
634 walks
2612 IP
We have ourselves a slugging SS, again.
I would venture to say that Mookie will be a better defensive SS than Trea or Corey.
Seager, perhaps; Turner, no way.
Fld%: Turner .973, Seager .970. Not much difference. Neither is considered a great defensive SS.
Fielding percentage is a poor indicator. Seager had no range to speak of, Trea did and with a much stronger arm.
Well, do you have a better stat to rate defensive efficiency?
Range yes, arm not.
He’s making plays also. So far, soooo good.
From The Athletic:
A very satisfying game to watch. Good work, Blue!
Betts looks great at short and his bat is warming up
Dodgers take the season series 4 to 3. Kersh #201.
Whew!!
So, they double up the fastest Cubbie.
Dodgers win!
How sweet it is!
Bang, Zoom!!
Woo-HOO!!! Mookie DP!
Who is warming up?
Fergie was.
Okay Dodgers let’s close this one out please… No more mental errors.
Oh man. CI – 2 on and no outs.
Insurance runs looking huge.
Exactly.
2 innings for Gratetol. Tomorrow is an off day, but still nice to give guys extra rest I guess.
Lux?
SA-WEET!!
Thanks Mookie!
Way to work a walk there Barnes.
Bellinger has feasted on the Dodger pitching. Geez.
That was Mookie’s (mental) error.
Belli has still feasted on our pitching.
If he’d hit against us all season in each of the last three…no years-long slump!
He wasn’t helpful out there
There we saw one of Mookie’s shortcomings as an infielder. That was Peralta’s ball all the way.
Rookie mistake.
Ok team. Let’s put this one a bit further out of reach.
Mook responds.
Year from now Link will be posting about how on this date the Rays tied the 2009 Dodgers for longest home win streak to start a season. 13-0 at home.
I will if Leo (the proprietor of the NationalPastime.com site from which I draw that info) adds it into his database.
Lol! Fair enough.
Ok – how are the Pirates 16-7??
It has to have been a while since the Dodgers faced the Pirates and had a worse record than them. Hopefully we can still find a way to take 2 from them this week.
Same is true with the Cubbies, who look to be much improved.
Yeah but 16-7 has more of a shock value than 12-8.
They have the second most wins in MLB, only trailing the lights out Rays.
Cutch?
Let’s go Freddie. Drive in Mookie here.
Jason gets a little revenge on Cody.
Adios Pelota. Dos.
JD follows suit.
The Dodgers like giving Kershaw support.
Max says hello!
And goodbye!
I think we can safely say Max is back.
Brazilian Bambino at it again
O bebê…
Poor defense bites us in the ___.
Well, Cody seems to have found new life outside of LA.
Until Outman reached the Dodgers, I had never heard the surname before. I thought it was probably Northern European in origin but… https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/a09abafc1924e86a05e2f0902cb12ee6368a21cb9af3c1539d17a3528ccc6b02.png

Thank you.
I like Mookie at SS. He will be just as good as Trea Turner, maybe better. Solves a lot of problems. Much easier to find/get a good hitting outfielder than SS.
