  • 1999 A crowd of 37,317 fans enjoys a 3-2 victory over the Braves when LA surpasses the 100 million mark in attendance at Dodger Stadium. The ballpark opened in 1962, four seasons after the franchise moved from Brooklyn to the west coast.
  • 2011 Bud Selig announces MLB is taking over operations of the Dodgers because of concerns over team finances and the ability of Frank McCourt to run the franchise. Los Angeles is facing substantial debt payments, which the owner plans to meet by using funding from the club’s new $2.5 billion, 20-year media-rights deal with Fox Sports, but the Commissioner has withheld his approval of the agreement between the News Corp.’s media company and the team.
  • 2012 The Reds become the fifth major league team to record their 10,000th franchise victory with a 9-4 win over Chicago at Wrigley Field. Cincinnati joins the Giants, Cubs, Dodgers, Cardinals, and Braves in reaching the milestone.

  19. Saw that Tony Gonsolin struck out 7 in a rehab game. Get him back – along with Mookie and Will – that will feel a bit better.

  23. Grove hurt. What’s the over under on the number of different pitchers that will start a game in April? I’ll go with 8.

  25. Peralta and Martinez attended the same take the extra base school. Must not have been accredited.

  29. So my little run of stressful stuff continues – as our house was broken into two nights ago and our uninvited guest treated themselves to some cash and cards. Fortunately we think that’s all he took.

        Filed a police report but not expecting anything to come out of it. Our neighbours also were broken into and know a PI who is wanting to solve a string of break-ins in our area. So we might work with him.

  45. Regarding the Snakes’ DFA of BadGums, could Dodgers hitters use a batting practice pitcher to help rebuild their confidence?

    • He will go back to the Gnats for league minimum.
      He can still be a good back of rotation starter for a lot of teams.

      • He’s done for, but an also-ran still might sign him in mistaken hope he’d do well enough to have some trade value at the deadline.
