Rockies at Dodgers, 7:10 PM PDT, TV: ATT SportsNet RM, MLBN (out-of-market only), SPNLA
Game 81 marks the mid-point of the season.
The Rockies hand the ball to RHP Jose Ureña (0-0, 3.52 ERA), while the Dodgers hand theirs to RHP Mitch Wbite (1-1, 3.93 ERA). Ureña hasn’t gone more than three innings in any start this year, and he’s only made four appearances altogether, all starts and all in April. He’s no rookie, though; he’s pitched six full years in the AL with Miami and Detroit. White has made 11 appearances this year, six of them starts. His K/BB ratio this season is a tidy 3 to 1.
The Dodgers activated IF/OF Zach McKinstry and LHP Caleb Ferguson from the injured list, optioned RHP Ryan Pepiot and placed IF/OF Chris Taylor on the 10-day injured list with a left foot fracture.

Today in Dodgers’ history:
- 1938 At Crosley Field, Yankees’ hurler Lefty Gomez is defeated for the first time in four All-Star starts as the NL wins the All-Star game 4-1. National League shortstop Leo Durocher becomes the first Dodger to start in an All-Star Game and gets a ‘bunt’ home run.
- 1953 In his first major league start, 24 year-old right-hander Al Worthington throws a two-hitter, blanking the Pirates, 6-0. The Giants’ rookie, known as ‘Red’, will become the first National League freshman to throw consecutive shutouts at the start of a career, when he repeats the feat in his next outing, also blanking the Dodgers, 6-0.
- 2000 Vin Scully, 72, is voted the No. 1 sportscaster of the 20th century by members of the American Sportscasters Association. The Dodger veteran broadcaster’s 51-year career has included play-by-play of 25 Fall Classics and a dozen All-Star Games.

I’ve made some plays like the one Yglesias caught in slow pitch, but I was much younger then.
The Paddles have the night off, but the Gnats have already fallen behind the Snakes, 1-0 in the first.
Mookie makes chopped liver of the Rocks.
A one hitter
Boom and its over
The old Baltimore chop!
Ha!
Woo-HOO!
100 mph but not finding the plate
No outs, don’t need to swing
…there’s a walk.
I’ll settle for another WP.
If Lux runs, would he draw a throw?
Where there’s a Will…
Just a fly ball Willie.
Here comes Will!
Wah-Ooh
Wah-Ooh?
Great easy swing by Lux as well.
I love the shift
Belli scoots to 3rd.
Waltzes home!
Moving the line over!
Or single!
Third of the night!
Nice easy contact swing
Gnats closer having a Broxton inning in Phoenix, and now he comes out after 37 pitches, still with a two-run lead.
WALK OFF Time
Cody walk off? I’ll take a Cody double.
Easy inning!
Two pitches, two outs
Five and three!
Capped off with a backhand toss that almost pulled Freeman into the runner
Freeman has had to be Gumby this entire game!
Kimbrel. Hmmm.
It’s not a save situation. Is he the closer or the 9th inning pitcher?
Doc optimism?
Umpires spoiling the game
The stadium was full
of boos.
That pitch was low, but too close to leave alone.
Well below the box on TV
I’m up high here so not a good angle.
Well below. At least 2 inches.
You have got to be kidding. Geez
Come on Jake, it’s Dodgertown.
He got a pitch to hit
Jobbed.
Runs please.
I lost a little love for Trea after his playoff performance last year but I like him a lot now. It would be nice to have him back.
Best SS in baseball.
Thanks.
DP please Almonte.
Yea Yency. David Price them.
There you go. Would you like fries with that DP?
Already had my fries, thanks.
But have you eaten a Dodger Dog for each of us? I think that’s about 7.
I made one last a long time.
Garlic?
Can’t do the garlic fries on my own.
Curly, Cheesy, Crinkle Cut, Chili, Waffle, Steak, or Shoestring?
Ouch.
The Gnats have somehow managed to take a lead over the Snakes in the ninth (not that SF is relevant any more…).
They do better as a Wild Card team
The Gnats aren’t in position to be a Mild Card team either.
Coulda been better, coulda been worse.
Cody redemption score.
I hope he notices he can have fun without hitting a home run
We will TAKE it!
All that slipin and slidin as a kid came in handy for Cody
Finally caught a break.
No way he went around.
Shouldn’t have offered anyway
More of a defensive swing than an offer. Way inside.
Mash one Mook.
Big moment
All of a sudden Joe realizes Betts is up.
C’mon Barnsy.
I like Lux
He’s become such a reliable hitter.
Booooo! Bad call. Justin eluded the first tag and beat the second one.
Too close to overturn, I say reluctantly.
Hard for the ump to see but on the big screen from a different angle it really wasn’t that unclear. And we would have scored after that. Plus JT knew he wasn’t tagged.
Justin’s dance will be all the rage on tictok soon.
I think he’s safe!
Close
From here it was pretty clear.
But we don’t get replay calls
I know.
Let’s get some runs this inning.
RALLY TIME!! Clap…Clap
The Price was right
Good job Mitch. Defense let you down. Time for the offense to pick you up.
Roberts can be surprising.
Just throw the ball to second Cody.
Good grief.
I hadn’t realized this was an interesting game.
He will need 150 pitches to keep it interesting
Too late now.
Ball simply ain’t carrying tonight.
Rats!!
Might be it for Mitch. 83 pitches.
Excellent outing, in any event.
Another dinner party for me in Mexico. Tacos al pastor.
¡Qué rico! ¿Pero nada de carnitas?
There’s Mitch pitching to Cron, and Mitch pitching to everyone else.
La pelota no se va.
Freddie with the splits!
We keep just missing.
Belli is beleaguered.
After two in the desert, Gnats gnow trail Snakes 4-0.
Max barely missed that one.
Sounded so good.
Got a bit under it.
I’m at the game tonight. Such a beautiful evening.
It looks like it!
