Dodgers at Nationals, 4:10 PM PDT, TV: MASN, MLBN (out-of-market only), SPNLA
The visiting Dodgers send LHP Julio Urias (9-3, 3.95 ERA) to the mound to face the Nationals’ RHP Max Scherzer (7-4, 2.14 ERA). Let us hope that Scherzer keeps his pants on.
Today in Dodgers’ history:
- 1962 Johnny Podres ties a major league mark record, striking out eight consecutive batters in LA’s 5-1 victory over Philadelphia. The 29 year-old southpaw’s streak begins with the third out in the top of the fourth frame and ends after the first out in the seventh inning of the Dodger Stadium contest.
- 1995 Dodger right-hander Hideo Nomo, who is leading the National League in strikeouts, becomes the first player from Japan to be selected for the major league All-Star game. As the starter for the Senior Circuit, the 26 year-old rookie tosses two scoreless innings in the National League’s 3-2 victory over their American League rivals at The Ballpark in Arlington.

NPUT
It was the baby shark that made him do it.
When I said there was no Nat I disliked, I’d forgotten that Parra was back with them.
Is Joe Davis on vacation? It’s been Tim and Orel both nights…
His wife dropped her sprog yesterday.
I didn’t even know she was in the military… 😉

How often do errors come from players thinking about the DP before they make the actual play?
Fillies have blown a 3-0 lead in the ninth, and the Pads put the go-ahead run on second but failed to score him. Fillies have heart of the order in bottom of ninth.
I simply don’t understand why infielders bounce throws. The ball gets there much faster in the air.
No Bauer on Sunday. Pretty much knew that was coming from day one. Not sure why they waited to make it so.
It was MLB’s decision to make, not the Dodgers’.
Never said it was the Dodgers decision.
Also, Flores error w two outs started it all off.
So after the ump squeezed the Dbacks pitcher, calling two clear strikes balls, so Duggar walked the bases full, the gnext gnat hit a grand slam. Top of the 9th, 11-4 gnats.
Ohtani is unreal. 30 Hr!
The most Trout has hit in a season is 45.
Would be extra sweet if the D’Bags can find a way to defeat the G’nats. Not likely however.
The Gnats are more than capable of extending their streak to five.
Not tonight.
They can start a gnew one today.
Yippee!! Win Streak!!
Dodgers win!
Woo-HOO but come on guys…
You’ve got to be kidding!! Good Grief.
Oh Lordy. How many unearned runs have we given them?
80%?
Four
Bad night for Belli.
And then some.
Gallen falling apart against gnats.
Brewster’s ERA plummets to 13.5.
Chance to lower it even more in the 9th.
3 errors and 3 unearned runs tonight. Unacceptable.
Such a different sacks loaded outcome.
Whew!!
Obrigado, Gomes!
YAHHHH!
Yes! DP!
C’mon, Brewster!
This game could get really close really fast.
Yep.
Kinda has already.
Ain’t that close.
More thinking out of hand…
Oh gosh. CI!
I really hope Graterol’s era goes down with this outing.
Exactly what I didn’t want to happen.
Oh brother! Max!
That should have been the end of the inning.
Second sloppy run-causing error.
Yep. Our defense really needs to improve.
And that’s why the Dodgers have no starters in the ASG… (totally joking)
Thoughts on the caps the Dodgers have on this weekend?
Double the interlocking LA, double the fun?
Don’t give up anything, Cleavinger.

C’mon D’backs.

Huh
I wonder how much hitting a GS has gone hand in hand with those 5 times? Not tonight obviously but perhaps some of the other 4…
Good inning.
Can’t believe they sent Lester out there.
Waving the white flag.
Lester pinch hitting-aka “Uncle.”
A whole bunch of early and ridiculously early Dodger games coming up for all you west-coasters.
And then there’s Link…
Arrgh!
I prepost early games by writing them the night before.
Think about your Australian readers…
Of course
That Sunday game…
It’s even early for us here in DC!
That half inning reminded me of last night’s cloudburst.
Did you get very wet last night getting home?
We got out early and we’re only about 25 ft. from the entrance to the Metro when the rain came barreling down the street.
So close!
We were lucky. There were few of us, as most stayed in their seats after the end of the fifth.
Very smart. And you didn’t miss a thing.
I sat down for dinner after Taylor’s double to start the inning.
MY OH MY!
I started watching when Mookie got his hit.
Do. Not. Leave.
I’m here for a good time AND a long time.
WOW!!
JAAJHR!
AJ!!!!
CT3!!! Lol
Ohhhhh! My video feed is behind yours!!!
AJ!!
Pick a name, any name!
Haha!!
How is that? Your part of Canadia is two time zones ahead.
But an hour behind DC. Lol.
Ha!
Still two time zones ahead of us.
Situational hitting! What?!?!?!
Let’s keep Kyle Lobster in hot water here.
Clever.
Had another nice interaction with Joe Kelly, commenting on his mariachi jacket at the White .
¡Órale!
I turnered in justin time.
(After pizza and movie night at our house.)
The Fillies have just walked off against the Pads.
This is nice.
And Pads lose in 10!
Woo-Hoo!!
Gnow if the Gnats can notch their fifth straight…
Pretty exciting here. Always a good number of Dodger fans in the stands.
Middle inning Dodgers!
Muncy!
Where’s that Mookie been hiding?
Second half Mookie?!
MOOK!!
Nice Mookie!
Could Albert score on a triple?
I coulda thrown out Albert on that one, I think.
CT3 starts us off
Prior to tonight’s game the Dodgers had allowed more unearned runs this season, 46, than any other team in MLB. Part of that, but only part of that, is attributable to our poor record in extra-inning games. If the runner placed on second scores, it is counted as an unearned run. We are 1-7 in extra-inning games.
Time for the offense to step up.
JT usually hits his dingers toward my seats!
You’re there again tonight?
All 4 games!
Turner partially atones.
Good Grief!!
Ugh. Sloppy.
None of the Nats much bothers me, since they’re gnot Gnats. Starlin Castro is a little annoying though.
Here are the first three paragraphs of the Bauer story from MLB.com:
WASHINGTON — Major League Baseball announced on Friday that Dodgers pitcher Trevor Bauer has been placed on seven-day administrative leave while the league continues its investigation into sexual assault claims brought against Bauer earlier this week. Bauer, according to his representatives, will not appeal the decision at this time.
Bauer, who will receive pay and service time during the leave, had been scheduled to start against the Nationals on Sunday.
Under the joint domestic policy agreed upon by MLB and the MLB Players Association, the Commissioner’s Office can also ask the Players Association to consent to extending the initial seven-day administrative leave period for an additional seven-day increments. Placement on
administrative leave is not a pronouncement of guilt

In th4 fifth, the Fillies now lead the Pads 3-0.
Like our rescue husky, Scherzer has heterochromia.
Mookie made a bad risk/reward analysis.
It was a perfect throw. Anything less wouldn’t have had him.
You expect a centerfielder to make a pretty good throw to third on a medium-deep fly ball. I was not surprised by the throw. That’s Robles’ fifth assist this season. The bottom line is they got him and it cost us a run.
It had to be perfectly online nevertheless, and didn’t necessarily cost a run. Scherzer might well have pitched Turner differently with a runner on second.
Whatever you say, WBB. Whatever.
Guess he figured Robles would be off balance.
After an innings, the Fillies lead the Pads 2-0 on RBI groundouts by Realmuto and Harper.Ex-Gnat and likely All-Star Wheeler going for Fills.
