As a bullpen game, this worked to perfection: six relievers, 12 strikeouts, no earned runs. You can’t ask for more than that. But one error and one homer killed us.
Hard to keep the other team scoreless. Offense should be able to score more than 2 runs.
Yes.
Freaking error. 3 unearned runs. Tough way to lose a game.
And by a guy who shouldn’t really be on the team.
Yep. And if Taylor isn’t scratched, he is probably not playing.
For want of a nail . . .
OK, Mookie, let’s end it with a two-run blasst.
Since he got HBP’d in the right arm, his power has fizzled.
Do you think that has also impacted his batting average?
Not a doctor – though technically I am – but he doesn’t look himself swinging the bat.
Seager would never have made the play that Lux did.
First Floro and now Garcia.
St. Louis got two in the top of the first in San Diego.
It’s atonement time for Neuse.
Had Muncy or Turner advanced Betts, after his leadoff double, to third, it wouldn’t have become an issue.
Two pop ups won’t do the job.
My computer blocks those.
Was that bad base running by Mookie or bad luck?
He was out by a mile, so bad base running. Don’t know what Dino was signaling, though.
I would always expect Mookie to score in that situation. To his credit, Duvall made a perfect throw, and the catcher made an acrobatic tag.
Beaty hits it too hard.
Ooph. Just peeked, at the wrong time!
Ugh, as Scoop predicted
The problem with rolling out so many relievers, particularly when you have only a 2-0 lead, is that if one of them has a bad inning you can fall behind quickly.
On the other hand, relievers tend to have a short shelf life. Once they go over their normal pitch count risks of souring increases.
Unfortunately, there you have it. All three runs unearned (but they count anyway).
Michael Milken is a convicted felon.
Huh? No ears, no eyes.
He was being interviewed on camera.
Thanks. He has spent years trying to restore his image and has given a ton of money to charity.
I think we will get this straightened out by Game 163.
scooplew So it’s not just me getting confused??? I’m like what the heck …. geez the only way I could find the game numbers is on Wikipedia (I know not the most reliable source). But the regular MLB didn’t seem to have the game numbers of just the Dodgers
WBBsAs
Say what IS up with the game # The official Dodgers season lists game 40 today 5/16/21 as playing the Marlins what’s the dealio ? (this is Steve’s sister trying to keep his blog up as he is to return any day now from the hospital). BUT I don’t get the game #’s being off…. help…. lol
The Dodgers have a 22-17 record entering this game. That makes this game No. 40.
Steve’s sister: I am not concerned about the numbering snafu. We can just append tomorrow’s game on this same link. And thanks for what you are doing. Tell Steve we all miss him.
Thank you that’s what I was thinking. I have never maintained a blog so this is all Greek to me. Steve misses all of you terribly but is hoping for a homecoming at the latest Wednesday, and possibly as early as Monday (tomorrow). Fingers crossed all runs smoothly. Enjoy today’s game!

The horsehide has left the Barnes.
I Steinered myself.
In the end it worked out OK.
Lux shoulda punched.
Beaty, punch hitter
Muncy, punch hitter.
I wonder if Garrett Cooper is ever called Gary?
Today is actually Game No. 40. Will we ever get this straightened out? https://twitter.com/SportsNetLA/status/1393961961373634562?s=20
