Dodgers at Phillies, 4:05PM PT, TV: SPNLA, CSN-P
Kenta Maeda (11-7, 3.31 ERA) pitches for the Dodgers and Vince Velasquez (8-4, 3.94 ERA) for the Phillies. This game is a rematch from last Tuesday, when Maeda went five innings and gave up three runs. In the same game Velasquez got hammered by his hometown team, giving up nine runs in 4 1/3 innings.
Here, have an excellent and funny catch made by the Giants’ Hunter Pence on Monday during the team’s loss to the Pirates.
Player movement:
#Dodgers have activated RHP Casey Fien from the disabled list, optioned RHP Brock Stewart to Oklahoma City and released IF/OF Zach Walters.

Let us now praise the Front Office for the lack of an Ehire Adrianza on the roster: http://www.mccoveychronicles.com/2016/8/16/12514330/giants-lose
Gnats lose! Dodgers alone in first place!
Woo-HOO!!!
Gnats get two in bottom of first, but Bucs tie it up and threatening more again.
We win!
Handily!
Yes. I love double digit wins.
For heaven’s sake, Reddick!
3rd game in a row he has had a 2 base error.
Time for Puig to return?
Not quite yet. Puig still needs some seasoning in the minors.
Bucs take an early lead on the Gnats, and threatening more.
Do we even know who the hottest Dodger is?
For August (prior to tonight) Grandal is at OPS 1.143, Joc 1.101, Gonzo 1.015 and Turner 1.000.
Seager, the slacker.
Howie .871 and Seager at .860.
Started to unrelax for a minute there.
Howell, come on. Don’t let them get back in.
Fillies may have a couple more runs in them. Believe I heard that they are #1 in the NL this month in runs score at around 6 per game.
Howell too busy admiring the play to get the out at first.
Been watching while exercising. Utley! My goodness. And I may have to rethink my loathing of the Phillie fans, at least for tonight.
They’re sure to revert to form soon enough.
I live pretty close but have never seen the Dodgers in Philly. My fellow Dodger fan here had his tires slashed once and I am not able to talk him into it (and I ain’t goin’ by myself!).
My son had beer dumped on him, and wicked razzing.
I’ve never been to a game in Philly, but have been treated well there (small sample size).
It would be interesting to see two major league teams play the Finnish version of baseball, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pes%C3%A4pallo:
This is what happens with a 9 run lead…
A bit sloppy.
Where is the batter?
At home but, if you read the article, some things are unclear.
So – let’s go Pittsburgh.
Oh Pedro.
Oh well. This is probably Howard’s last year, so let him have his fun.
Homeruns for all the old Phillies. Bring Rollins in to pinch hit!
The Philly Inquirer unearthed the fact that Vinnie started his career in Philadelphia at Shibe Park in 1950 in the 3rd and 7th innings of a Dodgers loss to the Whiz Kids.
Too bad he didn’t make one last trip this year…
That’s what the columnist said too.
Okay I can relax a little now.
Wow! Curtain call.
Chutley! Grand slam. Such a short swing – short and sweet here.
Grand salami for the fans.
Segedin keeps it rolling.
I’d like to dedicate this to the Fillies’ lefty reliever: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZaD5mAC3P2s
This lineup is deep and strong when they are healthy.
Doesn’t hurt that the Phillie pitcher can’t find the strike zone I guess.
Grandal’s a very selective hitter.
Close on ball 4. He had a good eye on that one.
Well, barring injuries*, the Dodgers should end up with 4 20HR players in Seager (21), Turner (21), Grandal (19), and Pederson (18). To bad Gonzalez couldn’t join them as well.
*injuries do happen sometimes though apparently.
Bobbleheadable? A friend picked me up the 4×30 one on his visit to DS.
Utley will probably have 20 before this game is over!
Grandal! He is $ right now.
thats much better
Yes! Our number 8 and 9 hitters! 8 and 9 HR’s that is…
Now Chase too!
Yes. Thank you Howie!
Howie!!!
We have our demands.
And what a lovely shrubbery it is!
Good enough to satisfy the knights who say “Ni!”
Who are now the former knights who say “Ni.”
Even old friends of Dodgers cannot escape. Eovaldi to have elbow surgery.
It sounded like one of the worst I’ve ever heard of.
Today should be the day that the Dodgers take over first place for good.
