Game 112, 2016

Phillies at Dodgers, 7:10PM PT, TV: SPNLA, CSN-P

The Dodgers keep putting youngster Julio Urias (1-2, 4.98 ERA) on the hill despite their efforts to minimize his number of pitches this year because their other options keep getting injured. Tonight he’ll face RHP Zach Eflin (3-4, 4.77 ERA), whose last two starts have been forgettable. In one of them his team got six runs against Madison Bumgarner, no less, and he couldn’t hold the lead.

This will be the first time Chase Utley faces his former team.

Lineup:

Joe Blanton went on the bereavement list and Josh Ravin was called up to fill his slot.

  1. I don’t mind so much if the Giants win as long as we do. I am less happy when they lose and we do as well.

  2. Top of the 13th and MadBum pinch hits with the bases loaded and 2 outs. He strikes out. On to the bottom of 13.

  3. In a 7-7 tie, the Giants put runners on first and third with none out in the top of the 11th and failed to score. In the inning Pence struck out for the fourth time tonight.

  4. Much simpler inning when you only give up a single to the opposing pitcher – rather than a double!

  5. Here is the report on Puig mania in Iowa. I have never seen so many people at a Monday night game. Of course The Chicken was there as well. Puig went 0-3 with a walk and a SO. He did throw a runner out trying to score from second on a single to right center. The final score was Cubs 3 Dodgers 2. Old friend Federowicz drove in the decisive run with a double.
Brett Anderson started and went five with five hits and two runs.

    • Thanks for the good report. What part of Iowa do you live in? My wife and I went to our niece’s wedding in Sloan, a small town, three years ago. We live in California.

  6. What happened in the field on the last two plays, the balls hit to Seager and Urias? (I know it wasn’t good.)

  7. As someone noted on Dodger Insider, with Blanton out we now have Chavez Ravin in the pen!
