Game 111, 2016

Red Sox at Dodgers, 4:10PM PT, TV: SPNLA, NESN, MLB Plus free game

The Sox ask David Price (9-7, 4.30 ERA) to win the rubber match of this series, and the Dodgers ask Brandon McCarthy (2-2, 2.76 ERA) to keep him from doing so. This will be Price’s third start of this 11-game West Coast road trip for the Red Sox; he’s pitched 15 innings, given up only four runs and gotten two no-decisions out of it. Today was supposed to be newly-acquired Rich Hill’s first start for the Dodgers but the blister which landed him on the 15-day DL hasn’t yet healed, so McCarthy will pitch with normal rest. He hasn’t made it past the fourth inning in either of his last two starts.

Lineup when available.

Segedin? Who’s he? Oh. To make room on the 40-man roster Trayce Thompson has been moved to the 60-day DL.

  1. Prado homers off Cueto, Dee scores, then Yelich goes back-to-back. Fish lead Gnats 4-1 in fifth.

  2. Will be scouting Puig tonight. Looking forward to getting to see the many players who have been up to the majors this year.

    • While waiting for the Dodgers to retake their share of first place after the Fish swallow the Gnats in Miami.

    • Steve Blass Syndrome (the position players’ counterpart is Steve Sax Syndrome).

  3. Bah! Network adapter driver fail. I can’t access the net on the machine with the failure, so how am I supposed to get a new copy of the driver?

      • Yeah. Though he only hit 45 in all those PAs in the minors. A very under-powered 3rd base prospect, which is why I guess he switched to pitching. Kenley had no power either as a catcher, hitting 15 dingers in 953 PA.

  4. Bumgarner pitched a complete-game, two-hitter today vs. the Nationals, and lost, 1-0. Wilson Ramon homered off him in the 7th inning. The Giants went 1-for-9 with RISP. We can gain a game today.

  5. Winter acquisition Rob Segedin (ex-Yanqui farmhand) starts in LF today. He’s been raking at OKC.
