Brewers at Dodgers, 7:10PM PT, TV: SPNLA, FSWI
The Brewers open up a four-game series with the Dodgers tonight, sending righthander Junior Guerra (3-1, 3.31 ERA) out to face the Dodgers’ Scott Kazmir (5-3, 4.52 ERA). Kazmir walked five in his last start against the Giants and left after just five innings, but he’s won his last three decisions. Fun fact: when he throws his first pitch tonight Kazmir will become one of the small number of pitchers who have faced all thirty MLB teams over their careers. In other milestone news, Jansen’s save last night was his 161st as a Dodger. That ties Eric Gagne for most ever by a Dodger reliever.
The Brewers’ Braun (OF) and Lucroy (C) have both been mentioned in trade rumors. I can’t see the Dodgers wanting Braun, but they might want a catcher who’s less vulnerable to injury than Grandal has shown himself to be over his 160 games in a Dodgers uniform.
Lineup:
Tonight’s Dodger lineup vs. Brewers:

Thompson LF

6.5 games back, farthest since June 15, 2014. Many thoughts, but a key one is that we badly need a catcher who can hit.
I am now on board with including Grandal in a trade for Lucroy
Might take including someone like DeLeon. Would you pay that price?
Prefer not to but would for same reason Brewers would not–arm issues.
Their CFer didn’t look great so maybe Verdugo and Grandal to start conversation.
that was just teasing after 2 out and no one on
Yeah, I switched to it just as Utley got hit. What a disappointing end to a major melodrama there in the 9th.
S’alright Seager. Get them next time.
we had our chance
Need 2 more hits. Or one home run.
Only once before this season has Baez pitched two full innings
we have made a comeback twice when 3 behind, only 2 behind….. easy 🙂
Not cool Pedro.
Here’s hoping for late inning magic.
So, what just happened?
Yaz did something really stupid, they’re clarifying whether run scored or not.
Thanks. So he didn’t tag? Or tagged and shouldn’t have run?
As Joc was scoring, Yaz tagged up and ran to second, getting thrown out by 30 feet. The question was whether Joc scored before the tag.
Well at least it is tied.
The rule of 3 is in play tonight.
Or is it the power of 3?
Well Venable not really getting a chance to prove his worth here. Turner in to pinch hit for him.
Continuing the theme of same name as ex-Dodgers: J Guerra gets on base with a hit.
Maybe the Will Venable era works best when he is not actually playing.
Oh. It’s going to be one of those nights is it?
Argh. Watching game on Gameday.
Moi aussi.
Ich nicht.
Trayce! Splash for 3 just like his bro!
and now we start again. I am becoming more and more impressed with him as the season goes on.
Very poor effort by Kazmir, who’s agonizing to watch.
45 pitches in two innings for Kazmir. He ain’t long for this game.
Funny to hear some one in Dodger Stadium named Broxton flying down the line to beat out an infield hit!
Imagine Jonathan playing CF!
Maybe it is Jonathan fielding out there!
Not sure about this lineup but hope for the best.
Kazmir on pace for a 243-pitch CGSO.
Hope it doesn’t go into extra innings then! 🙂
The last game I saw at Dodger Stadium – my first in many years – Braun beat Kershaw with a dinger.
He almost hit another.
Very helpful not to be behind 3-0 early.
it is still too early
No, that was Lucroy.
