Dodgers at Reds, 9:35AM PT, TV: SPNLA
Zack Greinke (13-3, 1.37 ERA) looks for win number fourteen in a rematch of the August 16 game he started against Reds’ right-hander Anthony DeSclafani (7-9, 3.97 ERA). The Dodgers won that one 2-1 thanks in part to a Greinke home run. DeSclafani did himself proud, though, going six innings, walking two and striking out six. If Greinke goes six innings or more in today’s game he’ll keep a streak alive: he’s gone at least that distance in all 25 starts he’s made this year.
Lineup when available.
Today’s #Dodgers lineup:
Rollins SS
Utley 2B
Gonzalez 1B
Turner 3B
Ethier LF
Puig RF
Grandal C
Pederson CF

I see Kimbrel of the Padres has been claimed on waivers by an unknown club. Considering the money he is owed, there are few clubs that could afford him… Dare we hope?
Kimbrel would be an asset, but the price would be very high. However, I expect the Gnats would take him to prevent the Dodgers from doing so, since much of their pen will be gone next year.
One of the best praises somebody he respects:

Rodriguez from Milwaukee should be available today. I hope the FO spends some money here. He’d cost a little over $10MM for this year and next but he’d probably be worth it. He should clear waivers because that’s enough money to discourage other clubs from bidding.
woo-hoo! (Too many dp’s for CAPS.)

Jayson Werth walk up tune.
Is that what Werth uses? One of the all-time great novelty songs.
He changes up during the games, but always this one. Gets the crowd howling. At various times has used “Dazed and Confused” from Led Zeppelin as well as the theme song from Game of Thrones (it’s a cable TV show)..

From historical fact hound GWilson at TBLA:
“Never before
The Dodgers are the first team in major league history to win a baseball game while grounding into at least five double plays with one of the GIDPs scoring the game’s only run.”
by GWilson Aug 27, 2015
just read the play by plays, wow double plays galore, based loaded, its amazing we won!
Via MLBTR: “Whatever the Red Sox do with Hanley Ramirez the rest of the way in 2015, opines John Tomase of WEEI.com, finding him a new home this winter should be at the top of the to-do list of president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski. Ramirez has had a deleterious effect throughout the organization, Tomase argues, suggesting that relying on the veteran at first carries too much risk. Yesterday, we polled MLBTR readers on the matter. The current results: a virtual dead heat between “move him to first” and “deal him away.”
Heh. AP says Puig tweaked his left hamstring. Mark Saxon of ESPN says he tweaked his right hamstring.

But which one?
Eric Stephen says the right, and I tend to trust him on such things.
Never know what you might see in the dugout.

The Fillies have a German in the lineup: http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/a/altheaa01.shtml
His name literally means “tall guy,” and he’s 6-5.
Cubans can’t play for Cuba: https://twitter.com/ENH_Deportes/status/637027418960740352
That seems unfortunate for Cuba and the viewing public around the world. (This is for WBC, right?)
Castrismo’s last stand?
Link – nice of you to take a few runs off of Zach’s ERA (you reversed scorer decisions on a couple of hits?)
Finger slipped on the 10-key pad, I guess.
Just heard an announcer say that SF can’t wait for Sept 1 and the increased rosters. Our call ups must be better than theirs right? Isn’t that what the new FO really has focused on – a improved depth on the 40 man roster?
Maybe they don’t like their regulars.
Shirley you are not comparing farm systems!? We have 4 of the top 30 MLB prospects in our system. Seager and Peraza likely to be called up (Urias and de Leon not on 40-man). As well, Ballslinger and Barnes should be nice additions. And guys like Wilkens and Schebler can help out. Yimi will be back as well.
Also – been trying to get this site to load for the last few hours and it wouldn’t until just now. The problem was not just on my phone but on my desktop as well. Don’t know what was going on there but curious if anyone else was having difficulty today. Although by the number of posts below, I’m guessing not.
Anyhow, missed being part of the chatting today (because of work meetings and because of my logging on problems).
You are logging?
We win!
So pen to the rescue. And of all people, Hatcher and JJ.

I hope that was shared on the big screen at the park and she was thoroughly shamed.
I recall yes (this was from last year).
Likely never happen, but it’d be great to see the ripped-off kid slug the so-called adult when this happens, which seems like it has a few other times. Seldom would that be more justified.
Ball game!
Stienered on that foul tip!
Joc earning his keep!
Was it last year or the year before that they seemingly couldn’t hit with the bases loaded? This is a bad time of year to start that again, fellas.
Year before.
Tough match up for Joc.
Pitcher PR?
Take him out!
Didn’t look good. Adios?
Thatta way Puig (but with limp?)
I’d even take another DP here to score the run.
A break!
Is this the first time we have faced Chapman in this series? (Saw him mow down a bunch of Aussies at WBC in 2009 in el DF).
Reds unaware it’s not a save situation.
Now, for me Kenley is the one who should have been pitching this inning.
No Kenley today at all, I don’t think.
Ah yes. Shouldn’t have used him Tuesday.
Mattingly School of Bullpen Management™
Donnie freaked out about 5 game losing streak, me thinks.
Almost Steinered there.
Heart in mouth on that fly ball.
Oh dear. Votto is coming up in this inning.
Walk him!
They usually do.
Man, talk about a gift inning! Come On, Van Smash!
Could do with a Grand Salami right about now!
Ugh!
Man, that’s disappointing.
Fifth DP today.
3 off the bat of package’s favorite player, too!
Guy on base merits part of the blame for just being there.
You wouldn’t know it from listening to every baseball announcer ever, but lead off walks end up scoring at the same rate as lead off singles.
Supposedly is free MLB game of the day. Not. Blacked out here, over 300 miles and better than 5 hours from Cincinnati on a good travel day.
Makes perfect sense, of course. But they can manage without me, I expect.
Be nice to get a couple of runs to avoid a nail biter.
It’s already a nail-biter!
one that involves the pen. Zach never worries me.
80 pitches and we’re only in the fifth? Zack’s not at his sharpest.
Doing well until the 28 pitches, so far, in this inning. Seven Ks.
Fans boo pitcher for not being able to put the bunt down. Tough crowd.
Thanks to Mr. Bruce no run scored, yet.
Agon gone?
Funeral arrangements to be posted.
Wait, what? Who died?
Adrain fouled ball off his knee. SVS in.
You have no idea how scary it was to see that in my email!
Consider the source.
Joc doesn’t pick up the high pitches well.
Turner’s swinging better the past couple days.
Seems to be slumping a little on the defense since he came back.
Seems the reactions are a bit slow.
