Dodgers at Phillies, 4:10PM PT, TV: SPNLA
Old friend Aaron Harang starts for the Phillies. He had a stretch of bad luck (eight straight losses between May 24 and July 1) and then went onto the DL with a foot injury. He came off it on July 30 and got a win, but he’s still 5-11 with a 3.97 ERA. The Dodgers counter with Brett Anderson, who’s 5-6 with a 3.14 ERA but has missed only one start all season, a welcome change for a guy who’s missed parts of every year since 2010.
Lineup when available.
Tonight's #Dodgers lineup:
Rollins SS
Kendrick 2B
Gonzalez 1B
Ethier LF
Puig RF
Pederson CF
Callaspo 3B
Ellis C
Anderson P #whiff

Hope Joc is on the path back. His 6 BB in August compare favorably with his 4 in all of July.
Plus he hit at least one hard tonight,
One of the new acquisitions is looking very good at AAA: http://www.truebluela.com/2015/8/6/9108033/jose-peraza-minor-league-report
Not sure how luck has played into Harang’s outcomes. He has pitched poorly since June for a bad team.
He was lucky not to give up lots more but, then, he was pitching against the all-or-nothing Dodgers.

If you couldn’t see it, here’s a recap of several bad baserunning errors the Dodgers made.
Woo-HOO!!! Aka Phew-HOO!!!
He is just lights out when he is on song
KKK in the ninth. Good work, Kenley!
No politics, please!
Heh. “Take down that flag, suh!”
Getting tight
How was puig actually out?
Broke for the plate on short wild pitch, realized he couldn’t make it, half-hearted attempt to get back to third.
Thanks
Joc hit the ball very solidly, not quite enough though.
Anderson’s at 92 pitches. I say take him out.
I hope that those missed opportunities doesn’t come back to bite us later in the game
They have a way of doing that with the Dodgers, don’t they? Not sure about other teams.
Hopefully the fielding error won’t do the same
The range for scoring base runners is fairly narrow, with all teams in the NL between 13-16%. But, yeah, we are in the 13%. Of all things, our rivals in the West occupy the first four positions, 16-15%.
Did Pederson have the green light to go to 3rd or was it rookie exuberance?
Not the best idea with strong-armed Francoeur in RF. Callaspo’s ball hit straight at him.
I’m officiating a wedding next Saturday and have the young couple coming over tonight to go over the ceremony schedule. The groom-to-be is a big Blue Jay fan, but respects my love of the Dodgers. Anyway, I will be signing off for the next few hours. Might be back for the last inning or two.
Joc’s back to getting some walks, which should be a good sign.
Went to the A’s-Orioles game last night in Oakland with my daughter. A’s got great pitching from Chris Bassitt — seven scoreless innings for his first win for Oakland. ERA of 2.64. Crowd of 16,328. Parking is normally $20. Was free last night. That’s apparently the case on all Tuesday nights. Stadium used to be attractive; no more since it was modified for football. But it’s always fun to see a game in person….A’s won 5-0.
The Raider Mafia has nearly ruined it for baseball, but it’s still more agreeable than the Phone Booth. Are you still going to the Dodger games?
I am going to the Wednesday afternoon game on Aug. 19 as a guest of a friend. When I know the seat location I will post it on this blog. I’d enjoy meeting you.
Keep me informed, let me know the day before at least.
I already like tonight’s game better than yesterday’s. Puig!
Taking the nephew to see the Nats-Snakes, so will be scoreboard watching.
How’s the heat/humidity there?
DC in August, shouldn’t be hard to guess.
Or in my case remember. Vividly.
I taught there the spring semester once, so I missed the worst.
I went all through middle/high school in Annandale, 10 miles south of DC.
I was at GWU. Had interview for tenure-track job, but didn’t get it.
Not bad at all really. Seems like we really haven’t had any of those 10 days to a week of summer steamers in years like in the good old days.
Gnots the Gnats, then…
