“On paper, this projects as a low-scoring game. The Cards are batting just .235 as a team this series. The Red Sox are even worse at .189.”
The Sox’ pitcher is Jon Lester; the Cardinals’ pitcher is Adam Wainwright.
In two World Series starts, Lester has yet to allow a run, including pitching 7 2/3 shutout innings against the Cards in Game 1.
[snip]
Wainwright . . . struggled in the opener, allowing five runs (three earned) in five innings.
Supposing this goes 7 games, Ortiz keeps this up and Lester wins his third, who takes home the MVP trophy?
Then again, I see Boston putting them away early in game 6.
Man, Lester was on his game.
Good game, but seriously lacking in drama.
What’ll it be today? Triple play? Suicide squeeze? Somebody hitting for the cycle?
Winning run scores on a balk.
That works!
Or a new version of Jeffrey Maier turns up in the outfield seats.
Alternatively, run forced in on a catcher’s interference call.
