Game Thread 10/1/12

It’s Cain v. Abel Harang at 7:10PM PDT at Dodger Stadium.

Matt Cain has a perfect game mixed into his 16 – 5 record this year. He’s taken over the #1 starter role from Tim Lincecum, at least this season. Aaron Harang had a late slump but recovered to win his last outing against the Padres on Wednesday. He’s 10 – 10 on the year.

It’s Giants – Dodgers with a playoff berth on the line. If you’re a Dodgers fan with a pulse, you’re either at the game or glued to the couch watching it on TV.

Lineup:

Ellis, M, 2B
Ethier, A, RF
Kemp, M, CF
Gonzalez, A, 1B
Ramirez, H, SS .256
Victorino, S, LF

  1. I guess you could say that the death penalty has been postponed at least one day. Here’s hoping it is commuted on Wednesday night.

  2. Sorry, season-long friends, but I think we are going to League once too often. I hope that I am wrong.

  3. Gonzalez is now hitting .301 as a Dodger. If he had come to life a few days earlier, we wouldn’t be in this particularly perilous predicament. But there are others on the team about whom we can talk about as well.

      • Gonzalez had just passed 3rd when Nady fielded the ball. That was a bad decision by Wallach to send him, and not the first such error this year on his part,

  4. Went back and found this from the March 27th Dodger Thoughts thread. I’m hoping it still comes true:

    The
Dodgers went 87-75 and secured for themselves a wild card spot. They
ended up winning the inaugural National League one game wild card
thingy, 5-2 over Miami. However, they lost in the best of 5 game wild
card thingy to Cincinnati (who win the Central). Kershaw again wins over
20 games, Bills wins 16, Lilly 12, Harang and Capuano combined to win
23 games. Kemp, Either, Gordon and Loney provided the Dodgers with a
    reasonably well balanced offense.
I’m actually glad I put the part in about the Marlins – makes it feel more authentically a wild shot in the dark at predicting. Got a few things right already, such as Cincinnati doing well, very close on Harang and Capuano, but not so much on the other pitchers.

  5. Darn, just tuned in to the Cards vs Reds game…3 run shot by Holiday I believe. 3-1 Cards.

    • Just wondering if you purchase the on line package how do they know what market you are in. Couldn’t you have said you live in La Patagonia?

  6. Dodgers had a good history against Cain up until the last couple of years. Let’s hope they find the magic again tonight.
