You gotta decorate the house, right?

Here’s “Deck the Halls” performed by John Rutter and the Cambridge Singers and released on the John Rutter Christmas Album in 2002. Rutter is an English composer and arranger, particularly noted for his original carol compositions. His work is generally written for choirs; he founded the Cambridge Singers choir in 1981.

The melody was written in 15th-century Wales, and the original lyrics had nothing to do with Christmas or decorating, but were well wishes on the New Year. The English lyrics were written in the 19th century by a Scotsman named Thomas Oliphant and were first published in 1862. You can hear the Welsh lyrics and melody here.
