50 dead

If there are two organizations more dedicated to a cause which is detrimental to the health and welfare of the United States of America than the NRA and its even more radical fellow traveler the Gun Owners of America, I can’t imagine what they might be. The KKK? Wal-Mart? La Cosa Nostra?

It’s largely because of their lobbying efforts and scoring of legislation that the Congress of the US is too terrified of losing its collective jobs to do anything to keep madmen, terrorists and just plain stupid kids from acquiring weapons, even freaking assault weapons like this one.

AR-15

That’s an AR-15 like the one used earlier today in Orlando, FL to kill at least 50 people and injure at least 53 more at a nightclub where a bunch of people were celebrating Latin Pride night.

I don’t know how to instill courage into the (mostly-Republican) members of the House and Senate. I don’t know what can be done to make them stop offering their “thoughts and prayers” for the victims of mass shootings and start offering good laws which will inhibit the frequency of such things. I just know there are way too many dead people as a result of random shootings, whether in massacres like the one this morning or in single cases of murder like the shooting of Christina Grimmie Friday night, or in deaths from toddlers like the 23 that have occurred in the first six months of 2016.
