Igor Volsky is an editor at Think Progress. Today, as the news broke about the killing of at least 14 people in San Bernardino and the wounding of many others, he noticed a peculiar thing in his Twitter feed: he was seeing a lot of politicians expressing their “hopes and prayers” for the victims. He started doing research and discovered that many of those politicians were the presumably-grateful recipients of National Rifle Association donations during their election campaigns.
So he began to tweet the donation data in response to those politicians. You can see all of them at that link. For example, responding to Senate Majority Leader McConnell of Kentucky:
The senseless loss of innocent life in #SanBernardino defies explanation. Our thoughts are w/ the victims & their families

NRA dumped $922K into McConnell's re-elect bid, so when it comes to preventing gun violence all u get is this tweet https://t.co/RsSvFRDlZr

I don’t know what if any effect it might have on those politicians (mostly Republicans), but I’m sure it made Volsky feel better and it expressed the anger many gun control advocates have toward that evil bloody organization known as the NRA. I congratulate him on his ingenuity and his persistence.
