Homeownership, bah!

The electrical outlet our outdoor sprinklers controller plugs into has stopped providing electricity to the gadget, so the yard isn’t getting watered twice a week as it usually is.

Climate change has affected my freezer, causing frost and stalactites to form inside it.

For a heart-stopping (or loudly-cursing) moment this evening the kitchen sink appeared to quit draining, giving rise to the thought of having to call a plumber with a snake. Fortunately, it cleared.

On the bright side (now) the pantry has been reloaded after it was sprayed on Monday, albeit with far fewer canned goods and only a few containers of grain.

Oh well.

  1. Plastic boxes with tight snap-on tops. After a similar infestation years ago, we now put all grain-type products in those boxes and we haven’t had an infestation since.

  2. All my flours are in plastic Folgers coffee cans with lids. They seem to be impervious to the little bastard beetles. The dog food is in a plastic bin which I’ve bungee-corded shut, but that’s not tight enough to keep out little tiny bugs. I’m hunting for solutions for that stuff.
