Loathsome, loathsome, loathsome

I can think of stronger words, but those will have to suffice to describe Mike Huckabee and his Forced-Pregnancy with Capitals F & P views.

Read and retch.

A 10-year-old Paraguayan girl was raped by her stepfather and became pregnant. Paraguayan law states that all abortions are illegal, no exceptions.

When CNN host Dana Bash asked Huckabee if he would have allowed Mainumby to have an abortion, Huckabee responded with a stock answer: “Does it solve the problem by taking the life of an innocent child?”

Bash then asked Huckabee if it would be easy “looking in the eyes of a 10-year-old girl and saying, ‘You had a horrible thing happen to you, and you’re going to…carry it out for the next nine months.’”

Huckabee responded: “No, it isn’t easy. I wouldn’t pretend it’s anything other than a terrible tragedy. But let’s not compound the tragedy by taking yet another life.”

How can anyone hold the view that a 10-year-old girl should have to carry a child to term? A child conceived in rape by a family member, I remind you?

Mike Huckabee (and Ted Cruz and Scott Walker and Marco Rubio, who have all said they oppose rape and incest exceptions to laws banning abortion too) are despicable people. They should lick the sandals on that little 10-year-old’s feet in repentance.

You know what else they surely don’t believe? That that little girl and her family should get any assistance from her government in the form of financial aid or counseling. Is she supposed to remain in that family, when her mother is married to her rapist? Mike and Ted and Scott and Marco would probably nod approvingly and say “It’s a shame, but that’s God’s will.”

If I were still a believer, the God I would believe in would not be so cruel.
