We’ll get right on that

Speaker of the House John Boehner said this today:

“President Obama has turned a deaf ear to the people that he was elected, and we were elected, to serve. But we will not do that. In the days ahead, the People’s House will rise to this challenge. We will not stand idle as the president undermines the rule of law in our country and places lives at risk. We’ll listen to the American people, we’ll work with our members, and we will work to protect the Constitution of the United States.”

Then all members of the House went on their Thanksgiving break.

  1. As I said on Facebook, when the leaders in Congress call Obama an emperor and a man who’s undermining the rule of law, it’s not unlikely that one of their more loony followers might take that as a call to rid the country of this demon. I hope the Secret Service has improved its abilities after the recent failures.

  2. I find it hard to believe these people, who are well watched in the public eye, don’t know that they’re choosing words that are provocative, and not at all veiled innuendo that something should be done, and that it’s sanctioned by them.

I’m all for free speech and all. But some speech should rightly be balanced with ridicule & thoughtful condemnation.
I see a disturbing trend where people can say very disturbing things and almost nobody objects. The most radical, untrue, or just plain crazy statements, are just treated like they’re normal anymore. Just part of the normal public conversation.
