A long time ago we were the only neighborhood on this side of the island which still had power during Hurricane Iwa. We cooked three Thanksgiving turkeys that year.

Tonight was payback. We lost power for about two hours, and we were the only neighborhood in sight which did. Drive 1/4 mile downhill and everyone’s got lights on and TVs going. I noticed that on my way to Safeway to get D and AAA batteries for various flashlights.
