Super Bowl XLVIII a flop

That was the worst Super Bowl in (my) recent memory. It wasn’t competitive, it wasn’t exciting, and it was mostly over by halftime. Then the team which led at the half came out and ran the second-half kickoff back for a touchdown. I left the home where I was attending an annual party with 12 minutes left in the game and didn’t miss a thing.

The last time the point differential was as big as the 35 points it was this time was in 2003 when Tampa Bay blew out Oakland 48 – 21 (see chart).

The Seahawks kept Denver’s Peyton Manning off balance most of the night. His record 33 completions are deceptive; many of them were short to intermediate and didn’t move the ball down the field very far. And when they did, a fumble or an interception halted the Broncos’ drive.

All in all it wasn’t much fun to watch.
