NFL Divisional Playoffs, Day Two

Okay, today I’ve got a rooting interest. I’ve been a Forty-Niners fan since the Montana-Clark-Tayor-Rice-Craig-Rathman days of the 1980s on into the Steve Young days of the 90s. Please beat the Panthers, guys.

Game Two, Chargers at Broncos: I’d like to see Peyton Manning get back to the Super Bowl, and the Chargers have been erratic for years. I’ll pick the Broncos.

  1. As a kid in the 1960s, I was a Redskins fan (and still am, to a degree, I’m trying to recover from the Spurrier years), but every Sunday after church we went to visit my grandparents in Newton, about 60 miles away. So I rarely got to watch the Redskins. But we would get home around 5 PM, so I would get to watch the late games, which were always either the Los Angeles Rams or the 49ers. So I was a bit of a fan of both of those teams. The Rams aren’t the Rams any more, but I still have a liking for the 49ers. So I was happy to see them win today. And I’ve been a Broncos fan for a long time.

  2. I was a ‘Skins fan in the Sixties (remember the Jurgensen – Kilmer arguments?), and my fandom was reinvigorated with John Riggins and the Hogs, but then Snyder bought the team and decided he knew more about coaching and personnel than the football people did. I pretty much gave up on them and stuck with the Niners after that.
