It pains me to say it, but I have to give credit to the haters in the anti-choice movement. They finally figured out that this face is more likely to persuade those on the fence in the abortion debate than this one.

The picture at the top is of Eleanor McCullen, whom you may have seen during coverage of the SCOTUS constitutionality hearing on Massachusetts’ 35-foot buffer zone around clinics in which abortions are performed. What a nice grandmotherly soul, huh? Much better than that picture at the bottom, which is of James Kopp, an anti-choice zealot who shot and killed Dr. Barnett Slepian in the kitchen of his home in Buffalo, NY in 1998.

With Alito and Roberts joining Thomas and Scalia and weathervane Anthony Kennedy on the Court, I don’t expect these zones to hold up. If I were running Planned Parenthood I think I’d start looking into putting up concertina wire around my clinics.
