The White House offered up a snapshot of what would happen if there’s no deal and the sequester happens:
- Cuts to education: Up to 70,000 kids would be thrown off Head Start. 10,000 teachers’ jobs would be at risk. 7,200 special-ed teachers and aides might lose their funding.
- Cuts to small business: They’d lose up to $540 million in loan guarantees.
- Cuts to food safety: As many as 2,100 food inspections might be canceled, putting people at risk of various illnesses.
- Cuts to mental health: : As many as 373,000 mentally ill people might lose their treatment.
Remember, ladies and germs, this is what the Republican Party would rather see happen than agree to a mix of spending cuts and tax loophole closures.
I would invert that list, to depict the likely succession of most immediate effects from the cuts, that society will reap as a result.
