  1. Steve, I don’t care about what all the other people are saying about you, you’re a good man! Congrats, buddy – a fine looking dog. Thanks for rescuing Abbey; I hope this will be good companionship for all involved!

  2. Very sweet. Yay for dogs and the people who rescue them!

Dogs will adapt to a name change, if you really want, but Abbey is a sweet name. You can tell folks she’s named for our friend who is working for Tammy Duckworth.

  3. She’s beautiful. The spots, the blueness and that Bentley mark on her head are all classic Australian Blue Cattle Dog, although the floppy ears (and perhaps the shape of her muzzle) make me think there might be something else mixed in there as well. Does she have a stumpy tail (which might suggest she’s mostly Australian Blue Stumpy Tailed Cattle Dog, a different breed again)?

  4. Sarah, it’s a long whip of a tail. Her ears are floppy, though, and from what I can tell the pure ACD has pricked ears. There’s something else in her, but who know what it is.

  5. Yep, ACDs all have pricked ears and usually thick, fat tails, so she’s got a little bit of other breed in there (along with a whole heap of cattle dog). ACDs also tend to be fiercely loyal and protective (sometimes over protective) so you’ve found a dear friend for life. They often love toys that let them herd, so you might consider buying one of those large, indestructible balls. Best of luck and congratulations. I’ve got an acd rescue, who’s the best dog in the world but as mad as a post, so if you run into any trouble, let me know.

  6. How cool. I must have missed this post and when I saw the picture of her on the bed I went looking to see what I had missed. From a cat you did not really think you wanted to a BIG dog. Amazing and I love her, she is gorgeous. What would the Hawaiian spelling of Abby be?? Or would there be. Enjoy!! And get a California King Bed!! 😉

  7. Cyn, no “b” in Hawaiian, so a new word would have to be created. One may have been. Using the original twelve letters in the Hawaiian alphabet the closest you can get is “Api.”
