Have a little vertiginous driving trip on the Going-to-the-Sun Road in Glacier National Park. This was in July. The road’s closed for the winter.
I love driving vacations, but I think I’d just as soon take the Red Bus Tour (.pdf) so I can admire the scenery and let someone else worry about staying on the road.
At least there’s a guard wall of some type. Nothing on the road to Hurricane Ridge!!!
Apparently the guard wall is only on the western side of Logan Pass (the Continental Divide). On the eastern side too many avalanches and late snows knock ’em down.
