Bobby Jindal’s wish to cut volcano monitoring was nothing compared to Romney’s desire to shift FEMA’s responsibility to the states (which in practice would mean money spent for other things, then shrieks of despair to the Federal Government when disaster struck and the states had blown all the money designated for it — Hey! Double the bucks from Uncle Sugar! Pure win!). He’d also like to require offsets in other areas of spending when money was needed for disaster relief.

This guy’s not even a good businessman. Does he not understand about insuring against calamity? I’m sure his life and work was covered by D&O policies while he was at Bain. He probably didn’t even know it.
