Mr. Johnson was correct (again)

In the “Life of Johnson” Boswell quotes the man as follows: “. . .when a man knows he is to be hanged in a fortnight, it concentrates his mind wonderfully.”

It’s true, it’s true. I haven’t had a cigarette since Wednesday, July 4. Haven’t any interest in having one, either.

  1. Very glad to hear it. Life is so much better without the cursed things. Of course, I am certain that you have much more than a fortnight ahead of you, cousin.

  2. That’s quite impressive, given that nicotine is THE most difficult addiction to kick – much worse than heroin. Keep on not smoking. And think of the savings!

  3. Good for you and good luck keeping with it. I KNOW how difficult it can be. It was many years ago but the hardest thing I ever did and I suspect that is what kept me from going back. Good on you. In time, and it takes time, you will notice food tastes better (unfortunately!!), you can smell things again AND you will smell smoke in other people’s home, or on their clothes or in their car and say to yourself. OH.My.God. Did I smell like that? I was shocked!!
