A basic misunderstanding

So “rising Republican star” Governor Bobby Jindal of Louisiana says his state will not create the health insurance exchanges the ACA requires.

We’re not moving forward with the exchanges, we’re not going to be implementing ObamaCare here in the state of Louisiana.

Instead, we’re going to do everything we can to defeat President Obama, get rid of ObamaCare.

Well, fine, dimwit. Then the law states that the Feds will create an exchange for you, and if you don’t like it because it doesn’t suit Louisiana’s unique needs and circumstances, too bad.

I get that the Republicans hate this law. How could I not? But kicking and screaming that you’ll ignore its requirements amounts to an attempt at nullification of Federal law by the states. The last time that was tried seriously there was a Civil War in this country and the proponents of the idea lost.

What’s funnier is that Jindal (he of “cut the budget for volcano monitoring” fame; the guy who gave a universally-panned response to the President’s State of the Union address in 2009) really doesn’t seem to know that the Feds are required to create the exchanges if the states don’t do it. He seems to think that if he refuses to do so it just won’t happen.

I feel really sorry for the good citizens of Louisiana. I’d feel more sorry if I didn’t know they’d voted this clown into office in the first place.
