The Republican party really thinks Mitch Daniels is one of their rising stars? They really hoped he’d run for President this year?

Man. The guy looks like Ross Perot, he’s as morose as Eeyore, and he reeks of Bush effluvia. This was the guy who signed off on both of the big Bush tax cuts when he was Director of the Office of Management and Budget in the GWB Administration, which added several trillion dollars to the current national debt (the one he railed against in his rebuttal to Obama’s State of the Union address tonight). In addition, he estimated the cost of the Iraq war would be around $50 billion, off by a factor of 20.

If the Republicans think the Democrats wouldn’t have made a ton of hay pointing out those facts, they’re crazy (but then, they are).
