Giants at Dodgers, 7:10 PM PDT, TV: MLBN (out-of-market only), NBCS BA, SPNLA
RHP Logan Webb (9-3, 2.83 ERA) is on the bump for the Giants and LHP Tyler Anderson (10-1, 2.96 ERA) takes the hill for the Dodgers. In his last three starts Webb has given up three runs on fifteen hits in 20 innings and gotten two wins. In his last three starts Anderson has given up four runs on fourteen hits in 19 1/3 innings and gotten two wins.
Today in Dodgers’ history:
- 1913 In a game against the Superbas (Dodgers), Slim Sallee becomes the first pitcher in Cardinal history to steal home. In the third inning, the Redbird southpaw scores the first run in St. Louis’s 3-1 victory over Brooklyn at Ebbets Field.
- 1966 The Mets left fielder learns he is a new dad when the Dodger Stadium scoreboard relays the message, “Congratulations, Ron Swoboda. Your new son is born tomorrow morning”. Cecilia Swoboda gave birth to Chipper, the couple’s first child, at 1:05 AM Eastern Daylight Time, making it the next day on the West Coast.
- 2005 Yhency Brazoban records his 18th save when he works a perfect ninth inning as the Dodgers beat the Mets, 6-5. The Los Angeles freshman, who is filling in for injured closer Eric Gagne, breaks Steve Howe’s club rookie record for saves established in 1980.

This guy actually did a good job.

NPUT
Dodgers have done a good job of letting the Gnats beat themselves.
BELLIGAME!!
Muncy looks at far too many pitches. He is on pace to have the lowest batting average in MLB history among hitters with the needed number of plate appearances.
He is a hot mess. It is time to try something different. At least move him down in the batting order.
The Gnats’ Bart has gone consecutive ABs without a K, which may be a season high for him.
Unlikely.
He has a more than 50 percent K rate.
He has had multiple games were he has not struck out.
Probably games in which he was a late-inning replacement and didn’t bat.
A very quick check shows he had a game were he had 4 AB’s and no K’s.
If so, something he’ll remember his entire career.
Meh
It’s something he can tell his grandkids.
That he made it to The Show? Yep I’m sure he will.
That he went four ABs without a K.
You are repeating yourself.
No, you’re repeating yourself.
Anyway – the main point is you were incorrect about Bart.
He’s a K machine. Nothing more, nothing less.
Like KT3.
Actually he is more than that.
CT3 has a 40% K rate. Not as bad as Bart, but, not good. Funny that you don’t mind his strike outs which affect our team more than Barts.
CT3 is a far more productive player.
Not by much. He could be a lot more productive if he cut down on his SOs.
And Bellinger is almost as bad when it comes to Ks.
Bellinger is more productive offensively, and an elite defensive player.
Webb being paid by the pitch? Already up to 42. (Nice number BTW).
Haha!
I was wrong yesterday when I criticized Dave Roberts’s decision to start Mitch White in the first game after the All-Star break. Two of his last three starts have been superb, including last night’s.
Better you should have grumbled about Vesia’s insertion into the game. 😉
In limited service, he’s been very good.
The cost of having so many All-Stars I guess. Need to give Kershaw and Gonsolin extra rest.
Gnats defense dooms them again. Big error in the 8th leads to 4 unearned runs.
Returned in time to see Cody homer on an 0-2 pitch!
Heck of and AB.
Whoopee!
Woo-HOO!!!
Dodgers win!
OK, Craig, that’s enough!

Now, just get it over with so I can walk the dog.
Holy Cow!
The Belli cow brought home the herd.
BELLi BOMB
Atta boy Belli. WOOT!!
Oh Baby, Belli!
¡Despídalo con un beso!
¡Despídalo con un beso!
Grand Slam!!!!!
Up to Cody
Get the run in Lux.
As Grant said, “clankmitts.”
Ball must not be carrying tonight.
RALLY TIME!! Clap…Clap
Vesia gets it done this time.
JT is missed in the lineup tonight.
A Traycer thru the right side.
Giants’ announcers saying nice things about the Dodgers.
Radio, I presume. Jon Miller is a quality act. He also does a great Vin impression.
Time for a Bart K.
Almost as good.
Just as good actually.
Aesthetically, I’d prefer a K.
K’s are less democratic.
I thought Price was going to walk him.
Keeping my fingers crossed with Price.
Price got lucky there.
¡Se ponchó!
Ok Dodgers. Time to get the bats going again.
Mookie just missed that one.
Halfway. Lets get some runs.
That’s on Max.
I keep wondering how much longer we have to endure the Muncy Mess. I am ready to try something different.
Guessing that AF thinks that they can afford to carry him at this point, giving that they are winning. If they were losing, we might have seen Vargas by now.
He should not be batting 4th, 5th, or 6th. Bat him 9th and let him walk in front of Mookie, Trea, and Freddie.
¡Miércoles (en viernes)!
Dang.
I hate blackouts.

Webb is No. 2 on the Gnats’ loathsome list, after only Greasylocks Crawford.
I realize I’m a day late, but I can’t believe it has been 20 years since the birth of Dodger Thoughts.
A day late and a loonie short?
Aye laddie.
Disappointing that Bart didn’t K – he’s got an upwards of 50 percent rate.
Cheap hit.
28-5 final in Boston.
Hard to believe the trade deadline is only a week and a half away. With all the questions about possibly pitchers returning (May, Heaney, Buehler, Duffy, etc) I wonder if the Dodgers will trade for a starter?
Relief seems more likely, no?
It should be.
Drat
Webb so lucky. His pitch count is 50 but could have been more.
Trayce has some wheels.
Last chance for Toronto to try and hit 30 runs.
Lamb not getting the same breaks.
Walk this way!
Walk right in, sit right down, daddy let your hair hang down.
That was a great folk song. Early Sixties?
Everybody’s talking bout a new way of walking, do you want to lose your mind?
Big hit in the 60s, but written in 1929.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Walk_Right_In
TIL.
Wow!
And Webb can’t find the plate so good thing.
We are so patient at the plate tonight.
Freddie smoked that one. Right into the glove.
Toronto is slowing down. They didn’t score in the 7th – the first 0 they have had.
27-4 now though.
What were the umps meeting about?
It’s a mystery.
Ah well. I like a little mystery in life.
BALCO™ Flaxseed Oil has its synonyms – https://www.sfgate.com/giants/article/Giants-prospect-Logan-Webb-suspended-80-games-for-13810302.php
Through 4-1/2 innings at Fenway, the Scrub Jays lead the Sawx 25-3 (yes, you read that right).
This helps explain it:

Did the Gnats’ Luis González get traded to the Sawx?
I was wrong yesterday when I criticized Dave Roberts’s decision to start Mitch White in the first game after the All-Star break. Two of his last three starts have been superb, including last night’s.
