Game 38, 2022

Dodgers at Phillies, 4:10 PM PDT, NBCSP, SPNLA

The visiting Dodgers send LHP Julio Urías (2-3, 3.00 ERA) to the Citizens Bank Park hill to face the Phillies’ LHP Ranger Suãrez (4-1, 3.72 ERA). These two pitchers met one another at Dodger Stadium on May 14, and Urías had a horrible game, giving up 8 runs (5 earned) on 8 hits in six innings. Suãrez got the win, giving up 3 runs on 5 hits while going seven innings.

The Phillies’ Bryce Harper won’t be playing right field for the next several months with his elbow troubles.

Today in Dodgers’ history:

  • 1979 Don Sutton becomes the franchise’s winningest pitcher when he is credited with the victory, tossing eight innings in the Dodgers 6-4 victory over the Reds at Riverfront Stadium. The 34 year-old right-hander’s 210th win surpasses the team mark established in 1969 by Don Drysdale.

  1. Both the Pads and the Gnats tried hard to give it away last night, but the Gnats were the ones who finally succeeded in doing so. Meanwhile, top “prospect” Joey Bart went 2-for-2 in K’s and now has 39 in 71 ABs (.549 percentage).

  2. Simply too many Ks for CT3. Entered the game fourth in the NL with 48; Bellinger sixth with 46.

  3. Dodgers can’t lose any ground tonight, but Pads have taken an early 3-1 lead over the Gnats at Software Stadium.

  4. Man, I am so ready for the pitch clock. This last inning is taking forever.

  5. Guessing that they have decided to keep Julio under 90 pitches for at least the first half of the season

  6. The pitch count through 2 innings is like a bad basketball game: 67-33

  7. No eyes, no ears, but I am guessing that it was a high, hard one that got Cody. That’s his Achilles’ Heel.

    • Bring him up and it won’t be as painful waiting in long lines for Dodger Dogs when he is on the mound.

    • Can’t say that I will miss Harper’s appearance in Philly’s lineup after what he did in L.A. last week.
