Dodgers at Diamondbacks, 6:40 PM PDT, TV: Bally Sports Arizona, SPNLA
RHP Tony Gonsolin (2-1, 2.38 ERA) goes for the visiting Dodgers. He’ll face the Diamondbacks’ RHP Zac Gallen (1-5, 4.80 ERA).
The Dodgers activated IF Corey Seager from the 60-day injured list.

Today in Dodgers’ history:
- 2004 In a blockbuster trade, the Marlins deal Brad Penny, the winner of two World Series games last season, first baseman Hee Seop Choi, and southpaw prospect Bill Murphy (who will be traded to the Diamondbacks tomorrow) to the Dodgers for backstop Paul Lo Duca, relief pitcher Guillermo Mota, and much-traveled outfielder Juan Encarnacion.
- 2017 Texas third baseman Adrian Beltre collects his 3000th hit when he doubles in the fourth inning in the Rangers’ 10-6 loss to the Orioles at Globe Life Park in Arlington. The twenty-year veteran, who has also spent time with the Dodgers, Mariners, and the Red Sox, is the first-ever Dominican-born player to reach the coveted milestone.

NPUT
Could woulda shoulda.
Dumb. Just dumb.
I think Treinen’s got this. (Hope I didn’t just jinx this.)
Gnats doing their gnatsy thing bottom of the 9th. 9-6, two on nobody out.
If Turner No. 2 were available now, I’d put him at second base — I know he is far more of a shortstop — move Taylor to center and put Bellinger on the bench.
Give Belli a map to Oklahoma and a tank of gas.
Do Grapes of Wrath in reverse.
The Belli Rage.
Well, that was better, and if AJ had hit that anywhere else in the park we’d be up by a few..
It’s now 9-0 Rox at The Litterbox, 3-2 Asterisks at Software Stadium.
He’s had shoulder issues before, and he’s come out of the game. https://twitter.com/AJCassavell/status/1421298885968859144?s=20
Hopefully only 1/180 odd games we get to play this season (and help is on the way
Good grief, another extra-inning loss?
More like extra grief another extra inning loss.
Rats!!
61-32 in games that don’t go into extra innings.
As said before, it’s actually a miracle we are still in contention for the division, let alone making the playoffs
Well, the top three in our division are all kind of limping right now.
I mean even if they went 4-8, they would be in first place.
If the whole season was extra inning games Dodgers would go 14-147.
Great stat.
You may have a fever but you are on fire!
One time I thought I wrote this brilliant stand up routine at 2am when I had a fever. I looked at the notes on my phone after the fever broke and it was not funny. Not at all.
But for a moment – it was comedy gold. Lol
Well, that’s 4 1/2 hours that I won’t get back. The Dodgers have now lost 8 of 12 and are 13-12 in July.
We’ll bounce back. Getting the A-team in soon. But Belli needs to sit one or two games out I think.
At least. Maybe he needs to see a shrink (who could also shrink his strike zone).
Definitely.
I did enjoy spending it with you and my other friends, however.
Yes, misery (I don’t mean that you or anyone else here is miserable) loves company.
Maybe this is our nadir. So many walks.
I hope it’s our nadir, but I am not sure.
All the bleeders fall in.
Dumb. Just dumb.
Bah, humbug.
That first out is really important.
So is the third one.
And again you made me chuckle.
He’s been killing us all night.
I fail to understand why they didn’t try to sacrifice.
The batter has three doubles tonight, and is a lefty pull hitter.
Just silly hitting- or lack thereof. (Oh, I thought you meant us.)
Just silly hitting- or lack thereof. (Oh, I thought you meant us.)
This guy again.
All this with a bullpen game tomorrow. Can they call someone up from OKC?
Will Rogers?
Or maybe Silver!
Color me disgusted.
I can’t figure out why I feel sanguine tonight but I’ll take it. I’ve been so fraught the past few weeks.
Is that a light mustard almost sandy colour tonight?
OK, McKinney, prove you deserve a roster spot.
Yet another long fly ball that comes to naught.
2 outs on 3 pitches is not going to get it done
Enough with Bellinger. Simply enough. Enough already.
I have a mystery I’d like to finish watching after 10th-inning Dodger victory.
Which one? The mystery of why the Dodgers can’t win extra inning games?
Zing!
Rig 45, a claustrophobic murder mystery set on an oil rig in the North Sea.
I was watching Kansas City Confidential for a while tonight. I will finish it tomorrow.
(Later today.)
Where can I find it? (Besides the North Sea.)
It’s on Hulu. There are two seasons. The first is mostly in Scandinavian languages, the second mostly in English. It’s all very noir.
Love noir. (See below.)
Time to change our extra inning luck.
1-10? 1-11?
I honestly don’t know what a reasonable explanation could be for that record for this team.
The former. Hopefully not the latter.
Perhaps the Dodgers want to be paid time-and-a-half when the games go more than nine innings.
They do have a much better record in games that go less than 9! But much smaller sample size.
This game might be on longer than the Olympics.
Ha! There’s that famous Winnipeg Dave humor!
Thanks. Not feeling too humorous. Pretty sure I have a fever and feel sore all over.
Oh dear. Never fun but especially not these days.
Ugh. I’m prone to fevers but yeah I will monitor it closely.
This delta business is really troubling.
I agree.
Free baseball (with this stupid runner on second rule)
Yes!
Your futuring is improving.
All for you, sir.
Don’t do that twice Treinen.
Many Dodger fans there.
Reddick has disqualified himself as an old friend.
Man, it’s like two outs equals a d-back double every inning!
They weren’t guarding the line.
Choke!!
We are sure being put through many excruciating innings lately.
For whatever reason, except for Kenley’s inning I’ve been enjoying this one.
Smith hit the ball very hard, but in the wrong place.
Cracked it smartly!
ugh
Bad future person!
So sorry WBB. Not what I ordered.
At least a sac fly please Will.
Seeeeegs!!
Corey single! He be hot!
Gnats lose! (On the downside, Asterisks win).
That was not even close, ump.
I’ve always appreciated the human factor in baseball, but these umps are making it tough to do so.
That was six inches off or more.
Perfect scenario: Bellinger comes up with two outs, bases loaded, score still tied and hits a homer.
I like that scenario.
I’d sooner take the lead before that.
Man we keep just missing them.
Nicely done (even it that was too tense).
Has to go into the kitchen and listen with one ear.
The guy has heart.
Nice kenley
Whew!!
C’mon, future people!
That’ll do! Now get Kelly!
That’s two outs!
Kenley has lost it since the All Star break.
Kenley… please…
We sure could use a DP here.
Pads have lost, Gnats down 9-5 in the ninth.
Bad luck Kenley on a good pitch. Now get this out!
It was a slider that didn’t slide. Stayed up in the zone.
Looked better than that to me.
Van Meter dropped in a cheapie.
Poor Kenley can’t win for losing these days.
A non-save situation for Kenley always worries me, but I don’t have the stats to back that up.
We seriously need a double play here. Or two k’s I guess.
Two aspirins.
He always worries me. He’s a crap shoot.
Gotta win this in 9. We suck in extras.
1-10.
Tie game. Fun game.
Omg. Did Albert just steal second? Crazy man.
Uncle Albert!!
Leave it to Methuselah.
Love Pujols.
Albert!
Albert gets the rbi!
A successful sacrifice bunt there might have helped him snap out of his malaise.
I never dreamt that Belli would become an automatic out.
He really has, hasn’t he?
Another meatball that Belli can’t barrel up.
Oh Belli. Sigh.
Two on nobody out again.
CT3 is guaranteed at least one more at bat.
de Geus has an ERA of 6.87.
Old friend…
I have forgotten that. When was he with the Dodgers?
In his first appearance of the year, Kelly gave up 4 earned runs in 2/3 of an inning for an ERA of 54.00. His ERA is now a season low of 3.33.
He’s been really good.
No question about that. A steady hand in the pen.
That inning was Miguel Aguilar’s MLB debut. He broke into pro ball in 2012.
Unacceptable.
Totally.
UGGGH!
Somebody????
Tie it up Max.
Swung at a terrible pitch.
Yep.
Unusual for Muncy.
Way outside.
I think CT3 is our MVP thus far this season. If it came down to signing him OR Seager, I’d favor signing Taylor.
Certainly a case to be made.
I was up in the air on that until we acquired Trea Turner. Less so now.
Woot! Love that guy.
CT3thriple!
WOOT!!
Here we go Dodgers. Clap Clap
Will Smith, in his short career, is now 0-for-5 with bases loaded and none out and his fanned three times in those at bats.
He got jobbed on that one. It was never a swing.
The home plate umpiring has been particularly and consistently bad this season.
Gonsolin stunk and the bullpen has stunk tonight.
So much for a shutdown inning. . . . We’ve gotten far more from Vesia than I ever expected.
Terrific catch by McKinney.
Heckuva catch, Billy!
Rocks and Stros handing us a golden ticket tonight. And we’re blowing it.
Perhaps we need Willie Keeler, who played five seasons with Brooklyn more than a century ago, rather than Willy Wonka, who never played for Brooklyn.
Presumably you mean Willie Keeler.
Thanks. I have just corrected it. That’s who I meant.
Surprise me, Cody, get a hit.
He’s late on every swing. Timing still way off.
Cody never misses an opportunity to miss an opportunity.
That’s so clever.
I know I may be risking Jon’s Rule No. 5, but Israeli diplomat Abba Eban said it about the Arabs in 1973 after the Geneva Peace Conference with Arab countries in 1973.
He won’t cut down that big swing. Always trying to hit it out of the park. Needs a trip to Oklahoma.
I agree. If he’d just shorten it up – almost play pepper with his swing, he might remember what it feels like to connect and relax. He looks so tense up there.
Seegs has as many hits in 3 ABs as Belli has in his last 3 games.
AJ just just JUST missed that one!
Smith gets jobbed.
That is a terrible swing called against Will. Seriously guys! Be consistent!
Altuve has just slammed the Gnats, who now trail the Asterisks 7-2 in the sixth.
Altuve just got a grand slam against the Gnats.
I hate having to root for the Asterisks.
I’ll take any help that we can get.
Big moment for Will.
Single single single!
Fine futuring!
In Taylor we trust
That’s more like it!
CT3!!!!!
Okay guys. Time to score some runnnnnnnns!
One more out, Graterol!
Nice play at home, Brusdar!
Good grief, bullpen! Can anyone throw a strike tonight?
What’s a strike? LOL
Ha!
https://twitter.com/Ned2point0/status/1421315805136965634?s=20
We are looking as insipid as their yellow tops.
We are a timorous bunch so far tonight.
Old friend Connor Joe has homered at The Litterbox, where Rox now lead Pads 6-0 in the fourth.
Make that 8-0, after another dinger by Brendon Rogers.
I see where DeGrom is going to be out at least another 2 weeks. Leaves the door wide open for Buehler to win the Cy Young.
Good Grief. This guy came in with and ERA close to 5.
Way to go Bick.
Phew, that could have been so much worse
Yep. Could have been a sink hole instead of a pot hole.
Okay Dodgers: Wake up!!
So unfortunate that the extra bullpen help – or whatever Duffy is supposed to be – won’t be able to pitch until Sept.
Pfffffft
Trouble brewing
Unfortunately the coffee is ready. It’s all brewed.
I like the Snakes’ Serpientes jerseys.
I like them as well.
Not really a fan. Kind of an insipid yellow.
Come on Catman. Throw strikes please.
There’s a start.
In the first at The Litterbox, Ryan McMahon’s slam has given the Rox a 4-0 lead over the Pads.
The Asterisks have taken a 2-0 lead over the Gnats, as Gooseman threw 43 pitches in the first.
And I thought having Gallen at 44 pitches through 2 was good news.
He’s on pace for a 387-pitch CG, which would raise his ERA a bit.
I have a been out of the loop for a few days, at a mini-reunion with some college friends. I don’t know what has been posted here about the Dodgers’ trades, but I am very pleased. I think we did better than the Giants or the Padres in the flurry of deals.
Undoubtedly.
Taylor got hosed. Ump better give us those calls.
Seager is probably thinking ‘I’d better hit and play great defence from the get go’
Thinking the same thing. Now that the Dodgers have acquired Turner No. 2, I think the bargaining position of Seager and his agent Boras is not as strong, at least with the Dodgers. Still, it would be great if the Dodgers could resign Seager.
Apparently Trea Turner’s agent also has a familiar name: Scott Boras.
I personally think Turner’s a better all-around player than Seager.
Resign Seager, but have him at third, have Trea at SS, and CT3 at 2nd. Have JT become a bat first player.
Yes’ I am greedy. I want both!
