Mariners at Dodgers, 6:40 PM PDT, TV: ROOTNW, SPNLA
RHP Justin Dunn (1-1, 4.85 ERA) makes his eighth MLB start tonight. He gave up seven hits and two runs in six innings in his last start and earned his first big league win. That was the longest he’d ever pitched since being promoted from the minors. He’ll face the Dodgers’ RHP Ross Stripling (3-1, 3.97 ERA), who gave up four unearned runs (six overall) in his last start and was pulled in the fifth inning.
Here’s a video recap of yesterday’s game:
Today in Dodgers’ history:
- 1992 Kevin Gross, retiring 22 of the final 23 batters he faces on his wife’s birthday, no-hits the Giants at Dodger Stadium, 2-0. The LA right-hander’s no-no averts the team from being swept in a four-game series at home against the Giants for the first time in 69 years.
- 2013 Clayton Kershaw blanks the Phillies at Citizens Bank Park, 5-0, giving the Dodgers their first double-digit winning streak since 2006. The team’s 42 victories in their last fifty games, including a 25-3 mark since the All-Star break, equals the 1941 Yankees and 1942 Cardinals for the best record for that span of games since 1900.

Not the game I was expecting. The Mariners put up a good fight.
Our Seager was quoted as saying if there was one thing he could take from Kyle it would be Kyle’s speed. Corey, keep hitting homers and we’ll forgive you.
Old friend Ryu rounding into form.
So to speak…
Stripling “has given up 13 runs (eight earned) and five homers in his last 7 2/3 innings.”
Dodgers win!
Woo-HOO!!!
Yike-fest.
Vogelbach can hit a mistake.
He is a man of some girth. He reminds a bit of Sydney Greenstreet.
This guy looks like trouble.
One more, Kenley!
One more out, Kenley!
Fluke single, borderline ball four call, and Kenley bearing down for the pop fly second out!
Now we need a DP.
Kenley Ks Big Bro!
Even the Angels do not believe in Gott.
Gott loves the Angels you mean!
Die Engel sagen, “Gott sei Dank!”
You are welcome.
Deleted.
Ok KJ. Bring this ship in safe to shore.
I’m guessing that I’m the only person here to have attended major league games at three different Seattle ballparks, and also the only one to have seen old friend Tommy Davis play for the Pilots at Sicks’ Seattle Stadium.
I’m guessing you’re right.
I may be the only here to have attended major league games at three different stadiums that the major league Angels called home:
Wrigley Field in L.A. — 1961 (once), although I saw the minor league Angels play here often
Chavez Ravine — 1962-1965 (they never referred to it as Dodger Stadium)
Angel Stadium (and other names) — 1966-
I also saw the Dodgers play at Ebbets Field (once), the L.A. Memorial Coliseum and, of course, Dodger Stadium. (I saw Tommy Davis at the latter two)
All that proves is that I am a baseball fan and I am (getting) old.

You and me both.
I saw Jack Morris pitch in Winnipeg once. It was at the end of his playing career and he didn’t seem to excited to be here.
That last out from Báez wasn’t scary at all or anything. He says after releasing the breath he was holding.
This game may go all night. I predict 31-29 Dodgers in the 19th.
It’s sluggish as in a slug fest
Hopefully the back half (front half? top half?) of the bullpen can now hold onto this lead.

5 runs scored without any help from Mookie.
The inning continues though
Kiké!
¡Quique!
Kiké!!!!!
Got the lead back at least
How much longer can the M’s stay with Magill?
Fine AB by Munster!
Strong wrists.
Hopefully they can tie it up here. But it’s no guarantee even though it’s 3 on and no outs.
Pollock hit it too hard.
Mariners have us right where they want us. We have been less than stellar with bases loaded.
Belli shows some patience.
Old friend on the mound.
Rox have lost to Asterisks, but Pads are clubbing the Llaneros (7 RBI for Tatís).
We are a quiet group tonight.
It’s been a sluggish game.
Digesting my food, and the convention.
There has been some good followup
Feels like an Oprah or Ellen episode broke out with this Seager parent interview.
That’s enough, Alanna.
Michelle just gave her speech at the Dems Convention. I thought she did a great job.
I agree, rules be darned.
Rules are overridden for people named Obama.
This game hopefully has a few more twists and turns left in it.
Don’t stop scoring now Dodgers.
I think that’s enough for Stripling, who may be losing his spot in the rotation.
I am blacked out due to being in the Mariners’ backyard. Was it a short throw home to get Joc out at home?
Fairly short, but he nearly got around a perfect throw.
Thank you
Paging Alex Wood. Mr. Wood you might be needed in the starting rotation.
Just get in line. May, Gonsolin, Buehler, Kershaw, Urias, are in front of you.
I think Wood gets a look ahead of Gonsolin.
This would be the last time if he doesn’t do well and Gonsolin does well tomorrow.
Gonsolin goes tomorrow.
The way the ball is flying out you would think it was a hot day or something.
I never get tired of seeing Corey drop that knee down and get those inside low pitches. So elegant.
It’s the Seager’s world and we are just all spectators in it.
This team hits the HRs by the bushel!
Chris Taylor’s interview was a solid string of platitudes in a relentless monotone.
Almost all player interviews are such.
I was impressed that the pitch of his voice never changed. NO inflection whatsoever. He did manage to avoid saying they were taking them one day at a time at least.
Read that their Seager said he looked forward to playing against our Seager to see what all the hoopla was about.
The Rox are playing the Asterisks, and I want both teams to lose.
Funny guy.
Mookie being Mookie.
Orel is trying to call it a double. I say hit and then error on the misplay.
Absolutely.
Official scorer now agrees. Sorry Orel. Stripling’s ERA wont be punished though, so that is good.
With the following base hit, it’s an earned run.
I see that now. Pollack owes him a dinner.

What’s happening with Gameday?
I’m watching TV, but Pollock misplayed a base hit to allow a run to score.
