Dodgers at Red Sox, 4:10 PM PDT, TV: NESN, SPNLA, FB-Watch
In a rematch of last year’s World Series, the NL West-leading Dodgers face the AL East-third place Red Sox. The Dodgers send RHP Kenta Maeda (7-4, 3.76 ERA) to the hill at Fenway Park to try to get a win. His last one was on May 31. He’s lost three of the six starts he’s made since then, but he allowed just a .182 batting average and compiled a 4.05 ERA in those games. The Sox counter with LHP Eduardo Rodriguez (9-4, 4.65 ERA), who was inconsistent during the first half but has had a 3.75 ERA since May 26.
Today in Dodgers’ history:
- 1966 The National League All-Stars edge the AL, 2-1, in a game played at the newly-built Busch Stadium when hometown favorite Tim McCarver scores the winning run on Dodger shortstop Maury Wills’s tenth-inning walk-off single, with Giants hurler Gaylord Perry getting the victory by tossing a scoreless ninth and tenth inning. The 105-degree weather, 113 degrees on the playing surface, results in nearly 150 people needing treatment for heat exhaustion.
